Abstract:
The invention relates to a treatment for printing a surface with an ink that includes a compound that exhibits a change of electronic spin state as a function of temperature, imparting optical properties such that the ink is visible in a temperature range that includes an ambient temperature of around 20° C. and is transparent in the visible spectrum when the ink is brought to a temperature above said range and then brought back down to a temperature within the range.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a laser-sensitive recording material, which comprises a substrate being coated with a recording layer and an undercoating layer, wherein the recording layer undergoes a colour change upon heat treatment produced by laser irradiation and wherein the undercoating layer comprises a pigment with the proviso that the system of the recording layer that undergoes a colour change upon heat treatment produced by laser irradiation does not comprise an organic leuco dye and an organic colour developer, a process for its preparation, a process for marking the laser-sensitive recording material and the marked laser-sensitive recording material.
Abstract:
A tape construct comprises a laser-imageable composition, whereby images can be created in said tape by irradiation with a laser. In an alternative, a laser-imageable formulation suitable for spray application to a substrate, comprises a colour-former, a binder and a carrier.
Abstract:
Compositions and methods for production of color images using phthalocyanine precursor-containing color forming compositions are described. The color forming composition can include a phthalocyanine precursor, an infrared absorber, and a binder. The color forming composition can be optimized for development in less than 1 msec using infrared radiation. The phthalocyanine precursor can include a phthalocyanine and a leaving group, or groups, each coordinated to a metal. The color forming compositions are ambient light stable and are useful in forming images on a wide variety of substrates.
Abstract:
A golf club c1 has a base part 2, a laser discoloration layer 6, and a protection layer 8. The laser discoloration layer 6 is provided on the outer side of the base part 2. The protection layer 8 is provided on the outer side of the laser discoloration layer 6. The protection layer 8 has laser beam transparency. The laser discoloration layer 6 can be discolored by irradiation of a laser beam. Preferably, an undercoat layer 4 is further provided between the base part 2 and the laser discoloration layer 6. Preferably, the undercoat layer 4 is not discolored by the laser beam. Preferably, the laser discoloration layer 6 includes abase material resin and a laser discoloration material.

Abstract:
Stylus-substrate system components include an optical transitioning or color changing substrate and a stylus device/mechanism for inducing the optical transition or color change in the substrate. The optical transitioning or color change substrate possess all of the chemical components necessary to generate a single color or multiple color image, written matter, graphics, markings or recorded information. The stylus device/mechanism possesses the physical, electrical, and/or mechanical means for inducing the single or multi-colored change in the substrate.
Abstract:
A process for forming an image on a substrate, which comprises coating the substrate with an amine of molybdenum, tungsten or vanadium that changes colour on heating or irradiation as an aqueous dispersion or suspension or as a solution in an organic solvent. Also described is a coated substrate, wherein the coating is a substantially visible light-transparent layer comprising an amine compound of molybdenum, tungsten or vanadium, and a solution of said amine compound and a thermoplastic polymer or a photo-polymerisable monomer.
Abstract:
A hot stamping foil includes a carrier, and disposed thereon, a thermochromic layer. The thermochromic layer includes a mixture of a thermochromic compound, a sizing or adhesive compound, a release compound, and an antimicrobial compound. The hot stamping foil is useful in creating various visual effects and also preventing the growth of microbes on a medium to which the hot stamping foil is applied.
