    摘要: A marking system comprises a substrate having a surface coated with a color-triggering developer and a deactivating ink composition; and a marking composition comprising at least one color precursor. At least one “non-color developing portion” of the surface is coated with both the color-triggering developer and the deactivating ink composition, and at least one “color-developing portion” of the surface is coated with the color-triggering developer and is not coated with the deactivating ink composition. Color development occurs at the color-developing portion(s) and does not occur at the non-color developing portion(s) upon application of the marking composition to the surface of the substrate.

    摘要: In a method and apparatus for engraving printing cylinders in an electronic engraving machine, an engraving control signal is formed from an image signal that represents tonal values of cups to be engraved and from a periodic raster signal for generating a printing raster. An engraving stylus of an engraving element controlled by the engraving control signal engraves a printing form in the form of cups arranged in the printing raster in a rotating printing cylinder. For checking of the functionability of the engraving stylus, test cups are engraved simultaneously when engraving the printing form. A respective measurement interval is defined for selected test cups. The raster signal is respectively eliminated from the engraving control signal for the duration of the measurement interval, and the remaining engraving control signal is investigated for harmonics characteristic of damage to the engraving stylus. A control signal signalling damage to the engraving stylus is generated given the presence of the characteristic harmonics.

    摘要: A plate-recording and printing system is provided with a printing plate recording device for recording an image on a printing plate based upon binary image data formed in an image data processing device, a printing press for carrying out a printing operation by using the printing plate, an image pickup device for picking up an image of a printed object that has been printed and a profile forming device for forming profile data of the printing press from the image data thus picked up. First, a printing operation is carried out under reference conditions by using predetermined ink and sheet of printing paper. An image of a color chart on the printed object is picked up by the image pickup means. The print color of the color chart is determined in the Lab color system based upon the image data. Profile data of the printing press is generated as a function of the print color and the predetermined reference color of the color chart. This profile data is stored in association with kinds of ink and sheets of printing paper used in the printing press. Prior to forming binary image data to be used in the printing plate recording device, the image data processing device specifies printing conditions of the ink and sheets of printing paper to be used in the printing press placed on the following stage, and reads profile data related to these printing conditions. Then, it carries out a color conversion on the image data by using the profile.

    摘要: A plate-recording and printing system is provided with a printing plate recording device for recording an image on a printing plate based upon binary image data formed in an image data processing device, a printing press for carrying out a printing operation by using the printing plate, an image pickup device for picking up an image of a printed object and a profile forming device for forming profile data of the printing press from picked up image data. A printing operation is carried out under reference conditions by using predetermined ink and sheet of printing paper. An image of a color chart on the printed object is picked up by the image pickup. Print color of the color chart is determined in the Lab color system based upon image data. Printing press profile data is generated as a function of print color and predetermined reference color of the color chart. This profile data is stored in association with kinds of ink and sheets of printing paper used in the printing press. Prior to forming binary image data used in the printing plate recording device, the image data processing device specifies printing conditions of the ink and sheets of printing paper used in the printing press placed on the following stage, and reads profile data related to these printing conditions. Then, it carries out a color conversion on the image data by using the profile.

    摘要: A method for modifying an image surface of a printing plate includes identifying a location of a pixel of an image at the image surface, an ink being disposed at the location of the pixel. The ink at the location of the pixel is then irradiated using a laser imaging system. The ink may be cured by the radiation so that it is hardened and useable to receive liquid ink and be used as a printing surface. The ink may be ablated and removed. Individual pixels of the image may be added or removed from the printing surface.

    摘要: A digital prepress system capable of preparing an excellent proof sheet free from the wrong conversion of characters and double procedure of trapping processing, having little color difference of images between the proof sheet and the regular printed matters and imparting no impression that proofreading paper and regular printing paper are different in the color tone, feeling of gloss and the like. This invention provides a digital prepress system wherein digital data are processed on a unit of Raster image processor and data obtained therefrom are transferred to a planographic print output unit and an ink jet printer to generate a planographic print and a proof sheet respectively, said ink jet printer includes a device for preparing said proof sheet to make ink jet recording on a proofreading paper having a color difference of 2 or less and a gloss difference of 75° specular gloss in an absolute value of 15 or less as compared with regular printing paper according to the provisions of JIS 28730, with the basis weight different from that of regular printing paper by a range between −10 to +50%.
