摘要:
A machine and method are provided for manufacturing corner posts for protecting products loaded onto pallets, and to provide structural support to permit loaded pallets to be stacked one upon another. The machine includes a continuously moving conveyor which moves a pair of boards from a pick-up station, through a fastening station and to a drop-off station. The boards are stapled or nailed together on the fly by a pneumatic gun which is periodically activated to install a series of staples or nails into the overlapped boards. A hopper holds the individual boards and drops them onto an inverted V-shaped support track through which the conveyor moves. The boards are ramped into overlapping engagement with one another and then stapled or nailed together as they move continuously along the support track.

The collected lumber of the present invention is formed by heating and softening a plurality of woods, applying adhesive on the woods, pressing and compressing the wood with adhesive thereon to mold the integral body in a prescribed shape, and by fixation treating the integral body using a heating device. The method for manufacturing collected lumber of this invention comprises the first process for softening woods by heat treating a plurality of woods, the second process for applying adhesive on the softened woods, the third process for forming integral body by pressing and compressing the woods applied with the adhesive to mold in a prescribed shape, and the fourth process for fixation treating the integral body using a heating device. By collecting and fixing a plurality of woods comprising thinned-out woods which is not worth using, the wood products which exhibits various excellent grain pattern and is used for wide range of building materials are manufactured, and the enhanced productivity is attained by shortening of curing time of collected wood to realize low cost collected lumber and process for manufacturing the collected lumber.

A machine for holding and nailing together the elements of subcomponents of building structures, which includes a work bed with a fence at one side and a movable ram to clamp the component elements against the fence. The ram is mounted upon a carriage for initial adjustment, and the ram carries a mount for an automatic nailer. Additional mounts for nailers are on the fence, whereby nailing from two sides can be effected. All nailer mounts permit vertical adjustment. The machine is supported on a frame, and a fluid tank, to supply fluid to operate the ram and nailers, forms part of the bracing of the frame. Means are provided for connecting supply and delivery conveyors to the machine.

An improved and strengthened wide board composed of multiple edge joined narrow boards for use in commercial and residential construction is disclosed. These wide boards are typically used for purposes such as shelving, stair treads, or other purposes where they may be appropriate. The improved wide board is made by drilling or boring holes from edge to edge through the width of each narrow board, with the exception of the leading narrow board in each wide edge joined board, in a manner that accommodates screws or fasteners, which act to securely clamp or pull the boards together. These holes are step-drilled in a manner that allows the head of the screw or fastener to be recessed below the edge of the narrow board, in order to attain a smooth or flush surface between boards. The hole then steps down to a smaller diameter to accommodate the shank of the screw. A screw may then be inserted in a manner that its shank end exits the hole and nullbitesnull into the edge of the next adjacent board. Sufficient torque may be used to tightly and securely clamp or pull the boards together. The holes so drilled are offset on alternating narrow boards in a manner that allows the screw to nullbitenull into solid wood, while avoiding the holes drilled into its adjacent board. When glue is applied to the board's edges, the screws act as permanent clamps. Not only do the screws serve as clamps during the setting or curing of the glue, but also they retain this clamping and securing action throughout the life of the board. The mechanical fasteners add redundancy to the glue joints, while the glue joints add redundancy to the mechanical fasteners. Such redundancy may minimize or eliminate the possibility of subsequent delamination. The improved and strengthened edge joined wide board provides an effective method of conserving valuable woods by using narrow boards that may be obtained from renewable trees, rather than solid wide boards from old-growth nonrenewable trees.

A framing jig for fabricating subassemblies for use in the construction of buildings. The jig has a supporting base defining a horizontal work surface, an end alignment stop defining a vertical transverse plane, a plurality of stanchions defining a vertical longitudinal plane, and a plurality of levers carried by the stanchions. Two or more parallel wooden members to be fabricated into a header or other subassembly are positioned in abutment with the end alignment stop and adjacent the stanchions. Each lever includes a flat portion movable from a resting position above the members to a clamping position in engagement with the edges of the members. The members can be nailed together when clamped by the lever. A bias spring associated with each lever urges the lever toward its resting position.

An elongated framework has upper and lower clamps for holding a pair of chord members in parallel, laterally spaced relation. Stapler mechanism is provided on the framework for driving staples into the upper and lower edge surfaces of the two chord members while the latter are held by the clamps for connecting them in their laterally spaced relation for subsequent construction into truss joists. Two of the stapling mechanisms are provided for applying upper and lower staples at two longitudinal points along the chord members, and drilling mechanism is provided on the framework between the two stapling mechanisms for providing lateral drilled holes in the chord members.
