Abstract: A stapler is provided with a penetrating part including a pair of cutting blades which are disposed at an interval in a second direction. Holes are formed in sheets and a pair of leg portions of a staple penetrate the sheets by penetrating and withdrawing the cutting blades into and from the sheets in the first direction. An interval in the second direction between the pair of cutting blades at a tip end sides in the first direction is narrower than an interval in the second direction between the pair of cutting blades at base end sides which are opposite to the tip end sides in the first direction.

Abstract: Disclosed is an assembly of staples, the staples having a crown portion having at least two legs extending therefrom and one or more barbs protruding from at least one of the legs, the assembly further including at least one strip of collation tape, wherein the staples are collated and connected by way of the at least one strip of collation tape secured to the staples. In one form a portion of the collation tape remain affixed to the staples when driven by driver blade in a powered staple tool and assists in maintaining alignment of the staple in a nosepiece of the tool.

Abstract: Fastening tool for driving a fastener such as a staple into a substrate a predetermined distance. The tool includes a housing and a driver reciprocally mounted in the housing and moveable with respect to the housing, the driver having a driving surface for engaging a fastener such as a staple. A magazine assembly is associated with the housing for positioning and aligning the fastener in the path of the driver so that when actuated, the driver strikes the fastener and forcibly ejects it from the magazine into the substrate to a predetermined extent so as to adjust or control the holding power of the fastener about the object.

Abstract: A staple gun tacker includes a wire guide mechanism in its forward end which includes a wire guide plate having a recessed lower end for engaging a wire when the plate is in an extended position and a rotatable cam for moving the plate between extended and retracted positions which includes a circular slot formed therein having one end thereof located closer to the axis of rotation of the cam then the other receiving and engaged with a projection on the cam plate so that rotation of the cam is translated into linear movement of the wire guide plate.

Abstract: A latch assembly for a staple gun has a front cover, a locking element, a pushing element and a staple driver. The front cover has a connecting bolt. The locking element is mounted on the front cover and has two cams, a torsion spring and a locking block. The cams and the torsion spring are mounted around the connecting bolt. The pushing element is mounted in the front cover and has a pushing lever and a pressing pin. The pushing lever abuts the cams. The pressing pin extends out of the front cover. The staple driver is mounted in the front cover and has a locking hole, a through hole and an elastic panel. The locking hole is formed through the staple driver and engages the locking block. The latch assembly can hold a handle of the staple gun conveniently and safely when the staple gun is not being used.

Abstract: A novel nosepiece for a fastener driving tool for driving fasteners for holding and spacing an object at a predetermined distance from a substrate are provided, wherein the fastener driving tool has a housing, a driver blade within the housing for driving the fasteners, and a power source for driving the driver blade, and each of the fasteners includes a bridge portion, a first prong extending in a driving direction from the bridge portion, a second prong spaced from the first prong and extending generally parallel thereto in the driving direction from the bridge portion, wherein the second prong is substantially shorter than the first prong, the nosepiece comprising, a trailing end coupled to the housing of the fastener driving tool, a substrate contacting end, a channel for axially guiding the driver blade and the fastener in a driving direction toward the substrate, a slot proximate the substrate contacting end laterally extending into the channel for receiving the object, and a curved ramp within the channel, wherein a portion of the ramp is positioned between the slot and the substrate contacting end, the ramp being for interfering with the path of the second prong to bend the second prong toward the first prong to hold the object between the second prong and the bridge portion. A novel method of holding and spacing an object at a predetermined distance from a substrate is also provided comprising the steps of, providing a fastener having a bridge portion, a first prong extending in a driving direction from the bridge portion, a second prong spaced from the first prong and extending generally parallel thereto in the driving direction from the bridge portion, wherein the second prong is substantially shorter than the first prong, positioning the object proximate to the substrate, driving the fastener so that the first prong is driven into the substrate to a predetermined depth and so that the object is between the prongs, bending the second prong toward the first prong, holding the object between the second prong and the bridge portion so that the object is spaced from the substrate by the predetermined distance.

Abstract: A staple for use in conjunction with an anviless stapling apparatus of generally U-shaped plan form configuration where the width of each end of the crown portion of the staple in a direction orthogonal to the plane of the staple is less than the effective width of the associated leg portions of the staple. Also, a self-clinching stapling apparatus, which has no anvil, and includes a nosepiece structure whose only moving part is a driver element. The nosepiece structure of the stapling apparatus defines a drive track whose cross section corresponds to the configuration of the crown portion of the specially designed staple. The nosepiece structure of the stapling apparatus further defines elongated grooves, disposed at an angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the drive track. During a stapling operation, the driver element is actuated causing the staple to move downwardly through the drive track towards the workpiece. The wider staple legs are simultaneously engaged in and guided by the angled grooves in the nosepiece structure. While the crown of the staple passes unimpeded through the drive track towards the workpiece, the wider staple legs are channeled and bent by the angled grooves.
