    Abstract: A sharpening device for use with a continuous flexible band cutting blade. The sharpening device includes a pair of rotating abrasive wheels positioned on opposite sides of the cutting blade. The rotating wheels are mounted to a pivot plate on either side of a pivot point between the pivot plate and an assembly arm. The pivot plate is rotatable about the pivot point through the application of a pressure device to the pivot plate. By rotating about the pivot point, the pivot plate moves the abrasive wheels into contact with the cutting blade to facilitate sharpening. The assembly arm is fixed about its upstream end, while the downstream end is movable to adjust the position of the abrasive wheels.

    Abstract: The sharpening unit comprises two diamond grinding wheels 6,7 mounted on respective shafts 8, 9 rotatably supported by a carriage 14 movable away from and towards the cutting blade 4 of a leather splitting machine to bring the grinding wheels in contact with the blade bevel. Said shafts are housed in eccentric bushes 30, 31 rotatably engaged in said carriage and operable in angular rotation, which bushes can be fixed according to predetermined positions to give a desired mutual positioning to said diamond grinding wheels.

    Abstract: An apparatus for honing in place the endless blades of a band-type slicer for buns and similar bakery goods. The honing apparatus has a pair of independently adjustable hones mounted on a common actuator so that the hones will simultaneously engage both sides of the cutting edge of the endless blade as it passes between the hones. The apparatus also uses a helical cam arrangement that advances and retracts the hones during the honing operation to lengthen the life of the hones and also to provide a more accurate honing as the hones and blades wear. Because of the mounting arrangement and the independent adjustability of the hones, the apparatus can be attached to and used with any of the various bun slicing machines that are presently commerically available.
