Abstract:
The specification describes a stepping advancing device more particularly r tables for receiving components during a stage of manufacture. The device comprises a crank drive adapted to reciprocate through 180.degree. and attached to the table. A pitman of the crank drive is pivotally connected at its free end remote from the crank shaft with an anchoring or fixing element guided for movement in the direction of movement of the table. This element is clamped to and freed from its guide at the respective end of movement of the crank drive. Furthermore there is a second fixing element, directly fixed to the table and which at the end of travel of the crank drive is detached from and clamped to a further guide, running in the direction of travel of the table, so as to perform an opposite movement to the first-mentioned fixing element.
Abstract:
This indexing mechanism is used to index a spot welding machine along a track to weld vehicle body components at equally spaced places. The mechanism comprises two basic assemblies, a frame carrying the spot welding gun and an indexing carriage carried by and movable relative to the frame. Retraction of a vertical air cylinder attached to the carriage acts through an arm to engage a frame positioning member in linear gear teeth on the track, thereby holding the gun during the welding step. Simultaneously with the welding step a horizontal air cylinder attached to the frame extends to move the indexing carriage along the track a distance equal to the spacing between welds.

A slide seat adjusting device for adjusting positional relation between a slide seat and a base, comprises a pair of identical adjusting blocks each having an abutting surface and a slant surface opposite the abutting surface. The slant surfaces of the pair of adjusting blocks abut against each other and have identical gradient values, the pair of adjusting blocks are slideably disposed between the slide seat and the base, the abutting surface of one of the pair of adjusting blocks abuts against the slide seat in a surface-to-surface manner, the abutting surface of another one of the pair of adjusting blocks abuts against the base in a surface-to-surface manner, and the abutting surfaces of the pair of adjusting blocks are parallel to each other.

Means for moving one body relative to another comprises a main toothed rack carried on one body and at least three actuators carried on the other body. Each actuator carries a stub rack of similar form to the main rack and is operable to force the stub rack into engagement with the main rack. The spacing between the actuators causes the bodies to move relative to one another in the required direction.
