    摘要: A method for creating a clad structure, comprising providing a substrate having an inner surface and an outer surface; providing a cladding material, wherein the cladding material is placed on the inner surface of the substrate, the outer surface of the substrate, or both; providing a surface activation material that is disposed between the substrate and the cladding material; providing at least one resistance welding device, wherein the at least one resistance welding device includes at least one electrode wheel that directly contacts the cladding material, and wherein the at least one resistance welding device generates resistance heating and pressure sufficient to melt the surface activation material and form a localized bond between the substrate and the cladding layer; and traversing the at least one electrode wheel across the cladding material and substrate to propagate the localized bond between the cladding material and the substrate and create a clad structure.

Thereby, the joint between the upper and the lower part is executed as a solid body joint whose section modulus in bending during the deflection is different along the joint. Thereby, a uniform impact on the metal sheet may be reached. Furthermore, the separating gap between the upper and the lower part is arranged obliquely, thus reducing the bending of the lower part.

    摘要: A method for metallurgically joining a tube to a member. A tube having a flange is obtained, and a member is obtained. The tube and the member are positioned with the flange contacting the member directly and/or indirectly through an intervening welding/brazing joining material. The flange and/or the member is segmented and their contact is a segmented contact at spaced-apart contact areas between the flange and the member. A resistance welding/brazing current path is created,through the tube and the member at a first contact area creating a first weld/braze zone which includes at least some of the flange and at least some of the member. Then, a resistance welding/brazing current path is created through the tube and the member at a different second contact area creating a second weld/braze zone which includes at least some of the flange and at least some of the member.

    摘要: An annular surface of a retainer made of stainless steel plate and an annular surface of an inlet pipe made of zinc plated steel plate are surface contacted. Seam welding is then applied within a surface contacting region of the retainer and the inlet pipe to form a gap at both ends of the surface contacting region, and a zinc plated layer of the inlet pipe is melted to extrude zinc to the gap thus filling the gap with the zinc. According to such manufacturing method, a fuel filler tube excelling in rust preventing performance can be provided without performing a separate rust preventing countermeasure.

    摘要: Apparatus for controlling a welding station used for welding seams extending along cylindrical can bodies, the welding station comprising a pair of welding rolls and a calibration unit for causing a desired cylinder overlap during welding. The calibration unit is adjustable along at least three different adjustment axes. The apparatus comprises: a weld monitor configured to monitor welded seams and provide an electrical signal indicative of weld thickness at a series of predetermined points along the seam length; a controller configured to receive said signal and to generate one or more control signals; and adjustment mechanisms for coupling to the calibration unit, or forming part of the calibration unit. The adjustment mechanisms are configured to receive the signal(s) and to be responsive thereto to adjust the calibration unit relative to one or more of said three adjustment axes, to provide the desired cylinder overlap and/or a desired weld quality.

    摘要: Copper conductor members or other copper-based workpieces are welded using a suitable copper alloy material that is reactive with the joining surfaces of the copper members. The reactive metal material may be applied as a thin metal foil strip between assembled facing joining surfaces. The members are pressed together against the reactive material and electrical resistance heated in forming the weld. Practices are adapted for forming many such welds in the pairs of facing ends of conductor bars or wires assembled, for example, in slots in a stator for a vehicle traction motor. Practices are disclosed for shaping and automated placement of suitably sized and shaped foils of reactive metal. Practices are also disclosed for use of a resistance welding tool in aligning and heating the many pairs of conductors to be welded.
