A self-contained stock lifter is particularly adapted for use in multiple station, progressive metal forming dies and the like, and includes a base plate with two vertical through holes adjacent opposite sides, and a vertical spring unit aperture located between the through holes. The stock lifter also includes a lifter bar having two vertical through holes in vertical registry with the base plate through holes. Two rigid guide shafts are mounted in the base plate through holes to permit the lifter bar to reciprocate in a manner which selectively lifts stock in the die to permit longitudinal shifting of the stock along the multiple die stations. A spring unit has a base retained in the spring unit aperture, and a reciprocating rod biased outwardly, with a free end abutting a central portion of the lifter bar to shift the lifter bar to an extended position, thereby defining a fully self-contained unit that can be readily mounted in and removed from the die to reduce manufacturing and repair costs.

A blanking die comprises a relatively thin die plate having a cutout into which the punch of the press, upon blanking operation, forces the material to be cut to form the required part blank. A holder of sturdy construction is provided onto which the thin die plate is removably mounted. Slidably positioned within the holder is a reciprocating support block which, upon blanking operation, underlies the thin die plate in order to reinforce it against the impact of the punch. After the blanking cycle, the support block is moved either to eject the part blank or to allow the latter to fall through an opening in the holder.

This disclosure relates to an ejector pad attachment for use with a sliding bolster plate of a press and permits a movable die member carried by a sliding bolster plate to have constantly associated therewith a supporting ejector pad while at the same time permitting the movable die member and ejector pad to move as is required during the operation of the press. The ejector pad is carried by the bolster plate for movement therewith and there is provided at the work station a platen assembly which is cooperable with the ejector pad to resiliently resist the displacement of the ejector pad and an associated die member during a work forming operation and thereafter return the movable die member and ejector pad to their original positions prior to the retraction of the bolster plate.

The assembly permits adjustment of spacing of finger parts for stock width variation, lateral adjustment of the fingers, and vertical adjustment thereof. During unloading, the worked piece falls freely by gravity from the loader in approaching the loading position to receive another piece to be inserted in the press.
