摘要: A bowling ball elevating assembly for an automatic pinsetter includes an idler pulley assembly having an idler arm and a tension spring causing the idler arm to maintain tension on a ball wheel belt driving a ball elevating ring member. An adjustment arm and a tension arm are mounted to an idler pulley shaft enabling adjusting the amount of tension applied by the tension spring to the idler arm, and consequently the tensioning force applied by an idler pulley to the ball wheel belt, thereby permitting slippage of the ball wheel belt relative to the ball elevating ring member when bowling pins and a bowling ball become jammed in the pinsetter. An improved idler v-pulley wheel has a reduced frictional engagement with the ball wheel belt, and improved positioning of the ball lift drive belt pulley reduces stress on the ball wheel belt.

摘要: A one piece positive contact bowling ball retriever device, having no moving parts. It is secured to the inside of the ball return wheel and circum rotates with the wheel. It has a lead finger guide designed to assist in the differentiating of pins and the ball, as the pins go their way the lead finger guide captures, guides and holds the ball in its concave radius to be lifted and deposited in one smooth continuous flowing motion for subsequent discharge into the bowling ball return. This positive contact device nether contributes to nor is it affected by slippage and drag caused by the oil and dust normally associated with automatic bowling machinery. By using this positive contact device, ball friction will no longer have to be artificially supplied by the use of temporary rubber ball kickers and the machine r.p.m.s can be reduced for longer equipment life and more economical operation. Ball retriever 1 eliminates the need for manufactures to friction compensate by operating at 36 r.p.m, this inventor suggests that the bowling machinery may now be operated at a lower r.p.m. using belt and pulley reduction, however, other speeds and means of speed reduction could also be used.

摘要: The Follower Link Assembly acts as a pivot to raise the pit cushion upon ball impact allowing the bowling ball to pass under the pit cushion and to lower the pit cushion at the end of the pinsetter cycle. By design, the pit cushion was an integral part and dependent upon the follower link assembly for it's movement. The forward, rearward, and upward position of the pit cushion was restricted and controlled by the elongated slot design of the follower link assembly. The Pit Cushion Cam & Roller Kit does not restrict the forward position of the pit cushion. The free rotation of the urethane roller controls rearward and upward rotation of the pit cushion. The steel cam is solidly secured to the pit cushion mount. The free rotation of the urethane roller allows pit cushion to raise allowing the bowling ball to enter ball elevator assembly.

摘要: A bowling alley pinsetter includes a conveyor belt forming a partial central portion of a pit surface. Hard plastic panels having a slippery top surface flank the central conveyor. The panels are inclined downward from pit kickbacks toward the conveyor belt for deflecting balls and pins onto the belt. Pins are delivered to a pin elevator by the belt. A ball stop extending transversely across is elevated for passing pins beneath while stopping a bowling ball. A ball sensor detects the ball at the ball stop and initiates a sweeping motion of a ball rake stored proximate one kickback transversely across the pit surface along the ball stop for urging the ball across the pit surface, including the inclined panel, to an opening within one kickback for delivery to an adjacent ball return assembly. The ball rake employs a groove shaft and pawl for converting rotational movement of the shaft to a linear movement of the ball rake. A ball door blocking passage through the opening is lifted during the sweeping action for permitting the ball to be passed through the opening. Upon return of the ball rake to its stored position, the ball door returns to its blocking position. The central conveyor belt is driven by rollers having a groove for receiving a continuous tract extending from an inner surface of the belt contacting the rollers. The track and groove arrangement prevent side to side movement of the belt.

摘要: A bowling ball is returned from the pit area of the bowling alley to the ball storage rack in the approach area of the alley through a pneumatic transfer apparatus and method. The bowling ball is delivered from the pit area to an elongated tube via an inclined track and sucked into the elongated tube where it is accelerated through the tube located under the alley toward the approach area of the alley. As the bowling ball reaches the approach area it is diverted from its travel in the elongated tube and forced into a lift tube which delivers the bowling ball to a ball storage rack in the approach area located above the alley floor. The bowling ball return apparatus makes use of pneumatic techniques and controls the speed of the bowling ball by regulating the fan rotation of an inline motor and fan assembly. The pneumatic bowling ball return apparatus is modified for use with conventional power lift devices used to carry the bowling ball from the subway below the alley floor to the ball storage rack.

摘要: A bowling ball return mechanism having a unitary frame structure which is mounted above a lifting track which curves upwards from the end of an underlane bowling ball return track up to the ball storage tray at the approach of the bowling alley. The unitary structure maintains the complete unit including a rotating tire with a compressable surface for positive engagement of an incoming bowling ball for movement up the lifting track, a rotating lifting belt which runs over the tire at one end and a crown pulley at the other for frictionally engaging the ball and moving it up the remaining length of the lifting track, an electric motor with a corresponding drive train for rotating the tire and the lifting belt, and a means for tensioning the lifting belt during its rotation. The unitary frame structure is pivotably mounted over the lifting track such that, upon engagement of the bowling ball by the tire, the structure will move away from its rest position and absorb the momentum of the moving ball. The weight of the mechanism causes a return pivot to the rest position while the tire and belt lift the bowling ball to the storage tray height.

摘要: To permit installation of a bowling ball return chute between a pair of ays, and prevent interference of bowling balls admitted from either adjacent alley to the chute, the alleys are formed with openings which are blocked by doors, the doors each including an interlock mechanism mutually engageable with the interlock mechanism of the other so that, upon opening of one door due to pressure of a ball thereagainst, the other door is locked and admission of a ball from the other alley is prevented. The ball is then moved on a rocker which deflects due to the weight of the ball, the deflecting movement being re-transmitted to the previously opened door to close the door, so that a ball from the other alley can then be admitted, the doors being easily opened by impingement of the balls thereagainst. The doors are held in locked position by a lock mechanism which is unlocked by a feeler located to be engaged only by bowling balls, and not by the smaller bowling pins, preferably over a timer mechanism which permits opening only a predetermined time after a bowling ball has been played so that tossed pins cannot inadvertently engage the feeler, and hence permit spurious opening of a door.

摘要: A mechanism for automatically returning a bowling ball to the bowler, in a toy bowling game, is described. The mechanism comprises an inclined apron which the ball travels up after passing through the bowling pin area. If the ball has been bowled with sufficient force, it will pass along the complete extent of the inclined apron and fall off the top of the apron onto a ramp which is inclined downwardly to either side, from its apex which is aligned with the center line of the apron. The ball then passes onto either a right or left hand downwardly inclined ramp from which it rolls back toward the bowler. A one-way gate is provided at the lower end of the apron for permitting the ball to pass onto the apron but preventing the ball from returning into the bowling pin area when the ball has been bowled with insufficient force to carry it to the top of the apron.
