    摘要: An adjustable socket system includes a socket frame having a proximal area, a distal area opposite the proximal area, a first component arranged along a first side of the socket system, and a second component arranged along a second side of the socket system. The first component is connected to the second component. A tubular insert is arranged on an interior of at least the proximal area of the socket frame. The tubular insert forms an interior surface of the socket system. At least one tensioning element operatively connects the tubular insert to the first and/or second components. At least one tensioner is attached to the at least one tensioning element that selectively tensions the tensioning element to adjust a circumference of at least one area of the socket system.

    摘要: An improved structure of a connection and adjustment assembly of a support socket joint of a prosthesis includes a connector, in which a vertical through hole and a horizontal through hole are formed. A support socket is provided on the connector and receives therein an arrest axle extending through the vertical through hole. The horizontal through hole receives therein a shaft, which has an end having a toothed wheel engageable with the arrest axle and an opposite end to which a second one-way bearing, a sleeve, and a knob cap are mounted. The knob cap has an interior that is an elliptical configuration corresponding to and mating an outside elliptical configuration of the sleeve. Pressing a knob causes movement of the sleeve and thus components mounted to the shaft so as to have the toothed wheel disengage from the arrest axle, allowing the arrest axle to be withdrawn out.

    摘要: An alignable coupling assembly embodiment for coupling distal and proximal prosthetic components includes a pair of parallel circular plates rotatably disposed in the circular receptacle of a support plate. The circular plates are configured such that they can be unpressed or a pressed. The unpressed condition allows rotation of the paired plates and the pressed condition prevents such rotation by way of a first friction lock. The paired circular plates further have a rectangular slot into which a longitudinal connector is slidably disposed, and which is subject to a second friction lock that prevents sliding when the connector is pulled distally. Rotational movement of the plates and sliding movement of the connector in the slot cooperate to allow its positioning at any point within an anterior-posterior/lateral medial grid centered on the longitudinal axis of the proximal prosthetic component. A distal pull on the longitudinal connector engages both first and second friction locks.

    摘要: A prosthetic knee provides security and stability, particularly to low activity users, household and limited community ambulators, single and/or slow speed ambulators, and those with little voluntary control, while also balancing walking (dynamic) performance for low activity users. The prosthetic knee includes a housing, parallel anterior links, a posterior link, and a chassis. The geometry of the links and their relationship to one another allow for low voluntary control, shortening of mid-swing, which reduces stumbling risk, and geometric stability in stance. The anterior links are particularly oriented, sized and located to provide for stability. The anterior links both extend above the posterior link and substantially below the posterior link. The prosthetic knee includes a friction adjustment mechanism, a stability adjustment mechanism, and an adjustable extension assist mechanism.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a variable-torque magnetorheologically actuated prosthetic knee which utilizes a plurality of interspersed and alternating rotors and stators to shear magnetorheological fluid in gaps formed therebetween. Advantageously, by operating in the “shear mode” there is substantially no or negligible fluid pressure buildup or change. Moreover, the multiple MR fluid gaps or flux interfaces desirably allow for the production of a large torque at low speed—eliminating the need for a transmission—and also for a wide dynamic torque range. One embodiment of the invention allows the rotors and/or stators to close the gaps therebetween to create a frictional torque component, thereby forming a “hybrid” braking system which provides a total torque or damping which is a combination of viscous torque and frictional torque.
