摘要： An element 10 for manufacturing a drawer is made of a bordered strip (11, 111, 211, 311, 411) which can be folded crosswise to its extension along scored lines (12, 13) to form the sides of a drawer. The strip has, on a first face, a rib (14) close to one edge of the strip and extending longitudinally to the extension of the strip. The rib (14) is designed to fit into a groove (16) along the side of the base of the drawer. Disposed on the opposite face of the strip are runners (18, 19) secured to the strip a by fastening device (23, 24) which traverse the strip to be at least partially contained in the cross section of the rib (14).

摘要： First and second major components are folded into a compact knock-down condition for storage and shipment and may be quickly and easily erected and assembled to form a rigid caselike article of furniture. The first major component includes a rectangular front panel with drawer openings and a pair of rectangular end panels hingedly connected to opposed side edges of the front panel so that the end panels may be positioned in an inwardly folded compact position when in kit form and may be unfolded to a position at right angles to the front panel in preparation for assembly. The second major component of the kit includes a rectangular rear panel and a rectangular top panel hingedly connected to the upper side edge of the rear panel so that the top panel may be positioned in an inwardly folded compact position against the rear panel when in kit form and may be unfolded to a position at right angles to the rear panel in preparation for assembly. The first and second major components may easily be unfolded and fitted together in a rigid manner to form the rigid caselike article of furniture.

摘要： A furniture drawer is constructed by providing a generally flat, elongate metal body member and manually bending the member to form a rear wall and a pair of side walls. Bending of the body member to form corners at the juncture of the side walls and rear wall is facilitated by transverse coined indentations in the body member which create lines of weakness in the body for accurately locating the corners. The body member is also formed with channels for receiving drawer slides and for receiving a bottom panel. Flanges formed at forward ends of the body member provide for attachment of a suitable drawer front. The drawer assembly as thus designed is capable of being economically packaged flat and shipped for easy assembly by the consumer.

摘要： A tight-fitting corner construction is provided for use between adjacent, integrally connected parts of a common panel. A specially configured, three-sided miter groove is formed between the panel parts, and the panel is folded to close the groove and to form a corner between the panel parts. An overhanging lip is provided on one of the panel parts along one side of the groove. When the panel is folded to form a corner, the lip is brought into overlying engagement with inner surface portions of the other panel part to effect a thorough, tight-fitting closure of the groove. The panel preferably comprises a hollow, elongated plastic member which is used to form the sides and back of a drawer frame. Snap-acting locking devices are carried in hollow portions of the panel adjacent the corner locations to lock the panel in its folded configuration. A drawer front carries connectors which project into hollow portions of the drawer sides. Button-like locking formations are carried on the connectors and project into holes formed in interior portions of the drawer sides. Neither the snap-acting locking devices nor the drawer front connectors are exposed to view once the drawer construction is completed. Methods of forming panel corner connections and drawer constructions of the foregoing type are also described.

摘要： The rear and side panels of a drawer are formed from a single slab of foamed rigid poly(vinyl chloride) having a reinforcing densified core and a densified outer skin with a wood grain pattern thereon. A longitudinal groove is formed in one surface of the slab adjacent the bottom edge thereof, and two V-shaped grooves are cut across the width of the same surface at appropriate ultimate corner forming locations. Appropriate guide slots and drawer front fastening configurations are formed on the slab. The slab is heated and bent at the V-shaped groove locations to form the rear and side panels of the drawer. A drawer bottom panel is installed in the longitudinal groove adjacent the bottom edge of the rear and side panels and the drawer front is attached. The drawer looks, feels, sounds, and handles like wood, but is less expensive and has many desirable qualities not possessed by wood.
