摘要： A light emitting electric toothbrush and method therefore is disclosed which is intended for use by children, is comprised of a robust high-strength, plastic construction, and employs both light and vibration to assist in the development of suitable dental hygiene skills. In its most fundamental embodiment, the light emitting electric toothbrush comprises a construction including a handle having a bottom end and a top end and a toothbrush shaft mounted to the top end of the handle. The brush shaft is comprised of a plastic resin including a fluorescent colored light refractive additive for optimizing light transmission through the brush shaft. A high intensity light source is mounted within the top end of the handle for generating light and a domed-shaped optical lens is positioned over the high intensity light source for directing the generated light into the brush shaft. Finally, a switched electrical source is included for energizing the light source and the generated light therefrom creates a glowing illumination in the brush shaft for illuminating a dental cavity of a person during brushing of the teeth. In a preferred embodiment, the toothbrush also includes a vibrating motor mounted within the handle for causing the brush shaft to vibrate. The vibrating motor is also energized by the switched electrical source simultaneously with the light source.

摘要： The handle of the toothbrush is in the general form of an animal (e.g., a quadriped) having its body supported when not in use in a generally horizontal position. The handle is manually encircled and grasped by the hand with the thumb extending under and around the lower part of the body and with the palm and fingers extending over and around the upper part of the body portion as in a fist. To facilitate such grasping by small children or manually impared persons, the head/neck portion or the front leg portion of the animal (or both) are positioned to be adjacent to the thumb and forefinger side of the hand of the user, and the rear leg portion and an optional tail portion of the animal are positioned to be adjacent to the fourth finger side of the hand of the user. The brush head of the toothbrush extends from an end of the handle. When the brush is not in use, it is adapted to rest on a flat surface with the bristles spaced from such surface. The device is adapted to motivate children to acquire and maintain desirable lifelong habits of good dental hygiene, it is easy for children to use, and it has enhanced sanitary features not found in the common types of toothbrushes presently available in the marketplace.

摘要： A children's toothbrush having a handle and an arm joined to the handle and having bristles disposed at one end thereof. A joint is formed on the opposite end of the arm for connection to the handle. The handle has a cavity for receiving the arm and the bristles therein when the toothbrush is folded. There is also a lock disposed in the joint for releasably locking the joint to maintain said toothbrush in an open position. The joint comprises a cylindrical portion formed on the end of the arm having a central pivot hole. An annular channel is formed around the pivot hole and spaced apart wing arms receiving and capturing the cylindrical portion to complete the joint.

摘要： Toothbrush assemblies have a structural component and a cushioning component disposed about a portion of the structural component. The structural component has a distal head element, an elongated spacing element extending from the head element, and a body portion connected to the spacing element opposite the head element. The cushioning component causes the structural component to resist movement in the posterior direction to a larger degree than the structural component resists movement in the anterior direction. Accordingly, an axial force applied to the head element in the direction of the spacing element causes the spacing element to move in the anterior direction. Thus, the toothbrush assembly can be safe for toddlers to use as they can be less likely to impale the toddler's throat tissue and/or puncture a vital artery.
