Abstract:
A method, apparatuses and a system for manufacturing an insole, a shoe or a sole for a shoe. Foot information is determined on the shape and dimensions of a foot, and a pin matrix is formed at least partially based on the foot information. An insole or sole preform is placed on the pin matrix for shaping the insole preform, and an insole or sole is formed from the preform based on the foot information using the pin matrix. A positive and a negative pin matrix at least partially based on the foot information can be formed wherein the negative pin matrix essentially corresponds to the positive pin matrix.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for designing custom footwear are disclosed. An apparatus for designing custom footwear may include a data collection system, a data processing system, and a manufacturing system, where the manufacturing system includes an additive manufacturing device. A method for designing custom footwear may comprise receiving user-specific data, generating a user model, identifying issues in the user model, determining corrective features, generating a custom footwear model, and manufacturing the custom footwear.
Abstract:
A method for thermoforming flexible sheet pieces via a tool having a deformable surface (1) made up of innumerable independent small areas (2), supported by axially mobile rods (3) and mounted in a sealed box (4). Gaps (6) communicating with the sealed chamber (4) are defined between the independent areas (2), through which a vacuum is applied on the lower surface of the sheet (7) to be formed.
Abstract:
A kiosk apparatus that may select for a person a recommended footcare product based on pressure measurements collected from pressures sensors or calculated biomechanical data estimates. Pressure measurements and calculated biomechanical data estimates may be used to determine if a foot is unshod on the pressure sensor and also group a person into a classified subgroup. The pressure measurement and calculated biomechanical data estimates may also be used to select a recommended footcare product.
Abstract:
A foot orthotic device is disclosed. More specifically described is an individualized foot orthotic device to correct and/or restore the ideal alignment and/or positioning of foot structures. The device is designed using a method and system that applies sequential pressure to regions on a plantar foot surface, and obtaining positional information about each region. Based on the positional information, an orthotic profile is determined, for design of one or more custom, individualized foot orthotic devices for a subject.

Abstract:
The invention concerns a preform and a device for cooperating with a lower limb member so as to provide a correction to the limb member. The invention also concerns a method and an apparatus for manufacturing the device. The preform comprises a base, a surface linked to the top face of the base, for cooperation with the lower limb; and at least one inflatable chamber formed by a flexible and liquid-impervious membrane sealed to the concave top face of the base. Injection of a fluid composition of curable material, while the lower limb member is in contact with the surface so as to inflate the at least one inflatable chamber is performed until the correction is obtained, the composition being then cured in-situ into a cured material.

Abstract:
Foot impression generating apparatus comprising impression platforms including buns of open-cell sponge material bonded to an supporting non-porous skins formed of non-blown sponge material is utilized for making foot impressions by a consumer. The sponge material comprises a blended mixture of elastomeric thermosetting material and low melting temperature thermoplastic material chosen such that the buns and skins are respectively flexible and then become rigid when heated and then cooled above and below the plastic temperature range of the thermoplastic material. The consumer steps into heated impression platforms to form the foot impressions and then they are cooled and “frozen” in place. Next, scanning means are used to create a digital contour map of the foot impressions. Then a digitally controlled milling machine is utilized for forming shoe inserts in conformance with the digital contour map.
