摘要: Method and apparatus for reducing or eliminating the contamination by algae or phytoplankton in a fish farm (100). A series of tarpaulins (112) are suspended from buoyant members (103) which support the netting (102) of the farm (100). The tarpaulins (112) are connected at their lowermost ends (115) to a movable series of horizontal booms (122) that may take on air for positive buoyancy or which may displace the air with water for negative buoyancy. The booms (122) reciprocate on generally vertically oriented spars (113) which are maintained in position using anchors (104) and stays (111). As the booms (122) are raised or lowered, the tarpaulins (112) are similarly raised or lowered to allow or prevent algae from entering the farm (100). A water pipe (200) is maintained in position within each cage (101). Air is injected into the water pipe (200) from a compressor (214). The injected air initiates water flow upwardly within the water pipe (200). The outlet (210) of the water pipe (200) is maintained below the surface of the water within which the water pipe (200) is positioned and dispenses the air and water into the water below the water surface.

摘要: Marine aquaculture apparatus comprises a submersible torus-shaped enclosure having perforations therein. Structure is provided for raising the torus-shaped enclosure to the surface of a body of water and lowering the enclosure into the body of water. An access door on the torus-shaped enclosure provides entry into interior portions thereof. These interior portions of the enclosure function as a habitat for growing marine life such as fish. Preferably the torus-shaped enclosure comprises a perforated surface generated by the revolution of a circle about a vertical axis.

摘要: The preferred embodiment of the present invention teaches an open water mariculture facility wherein there is provided a central platform/support structure from which uniformly emanates a plurality of elongated, generally cylindrically configured, ballastable cage structures for containing and maintaining a marine species. The present system contemplates ballastable cages, which can be raised for maintenance operations. In one maintenance operation, the cages are partially exposed out of the water for the maintenance of the cage walls; the system further provides a rolling system for turning the cages on demand, for out of the water maintenance of all portions of the cage wall, without the necessity of lifting the cages from the water. An alternative system of the present invention contemplates the conversion of abandoned oil platforms for use as the central platform/support structure, providing a central support structure for an array of cages.

摘要: A coupling 1, 50, 100 for joining adjacent frame members 2, 3 of a fish breeding enclosure 5 comprises a first mounting means 10, 52, 105, 106 for mounting to one frame member 2, a second mounting means 11, 53, 105, 106 for mounting to another frame member 3 and a flexible body 12, 51, 101 of elastomeric material between the first and second mounting means 10, 11, 52, 53, 105, 106. The coupling 1, 50, 100 constrains relative rotational and translational movement between the frame members 2, 3 in use to a predetermined level which is determined by the material of the flexible body 12, 51, 101 and/or by mechanical limit stops 62, 63. A non flexible connection such as a rod 35 having flanges 36, 37 or a chain 90, 110 provides a mechanical connection between the mounting means 10, 11, 52, 53, 105, 106 in the event of failure of the flexible body 12, 51, 101.

摘要: A deck structure primarily of aluminum members is assembled in modular panels, with each panel formed of a series of edge to edge deck planks connected into cross members at each end of the planks. Panels are connected lengthwise by interconnection of cross members at the ends of adjacent panels. In a preferred embodiment the cross members are connected by an interengaging flanges, and a plastic wedge is forced between the cross members to prevent disconnection. Preferably no welds are used in assembly of the aluminum frame structure, and the weldless deck structure has very good resistance to cyclical stresses particularly in a marine environment. Another important feature is that the panel framing members actually become structural supporting members in the assembled deck.

摘要: A net pen or cage for containing aquatic animals. The pen has a light-weight inexpensive net cover for the top which keeps predators out. The cover is easy to apply and remove and yet is held securely in place by means of studs or posts extending upwardly from the frame of the cage or pen and having enlarged heads which preferably are slightly larger than the holes in the mesh. Preferably the mesh is made up of resilient plastic strands which snap back into their original shape after being deformed by the bolt-heads passing through, so that the bolt heads and the netting together form a snap-fitting fastening system. In one embodiment, panels of materials such plastic netting are suspended in cages so as to attract the growth of algae thereon for feeding algae-eating aquatic animals such as conch, fish, etc. in the cages. The panels are formed into a removable unit so that some of the units and can be suspended in water elsewhere and transferred to the cage to replace units from which the algae has been depleted, thus feeding the aquatic animals by merely replacing algae-depleted units with algae-loaded units.

摘要: A device for breeding fish and the like in open sea or lake in at least a netted bag (12), which at its upper part is supported by a pontoon (11), the depth position of which is variable. The purpose is to provide a breeding device which on one hand allows an upper cover also for very big bags, and on the other hand can be boarded also by bigger ships and independent of the wind conditions, and furthermore is designed thus that the taking up of fish can be carried out in simple way without bigger manual work. These tasks have been solved thereby that at the side of the pontoon (11) facing away from the netted bag (12) there is arranged a stand (18) which is tapering in the direction upwards for supporting a freely rotatable platform (23), to which a boarding gangway (24) is articulatedly connected, and that a sinker (16) having water as ballast is arranged at the lower end of the netted bag (12), which sinker and thereby the bottom (14) of the netted bag (12) is liftable to the water surface by blowing the tanks of the sinker.

摘要: A marine cage for breeding fish comprises axle means around which the cage is adapted to be revolved. The cage has a grating grill mesh or the like for preventing escape of the fish. At the ends of said axle means are fixed two floats for monitoring the ballasting, when one is full of water, the cage being then completely immersed and said axle means being horizontal and when the said float is empty of water, the cage then being semi-immersed and being capable of turning around said axle means. Inside the cage is fixed a means defining a rudder when the cage is immersed and said axle means is horizontal, which means serves as collection device when the cage is caused to turn slowly around the said axle means when horizontal.
