Abstract: A towable farm implement having a frame element having a field end, a fold gate, and an inner wing tow bar rotatably connected to the frame member. The farm implement having a wing having a wing frame extending from a center end to an outer end. The fold gate can be rotatable between a transport position in which the fold gate is parallel to the main carrier and a field position in which the fold gate is parallel to the main carrier. Rotating the fold gate into the transport position can pivot the wing about the inner wing tow bar into a parallel orientation relative to the frame member. Rotating the fold gate into the field position can pivots the wing about the inner wing tow bar into a transverse orientation relative to the frame member.

Abstract: An agricultural baler including a frame and a quarter turn attached to the frame. The agricultural baler further includes a transport lock associated with a lateral end of the quarter turn for locking the quarter turn in a transport position. The transport lock includes a lock plate with a first hole receiving a first fastener at one pivot location, a second hole receiving a second fastener attached to and extending from a respective lateral end or the frame, and a third hole for receiving a latch pin extending from another of the respective lateral end or the frame. The transport lock further includes a biasing arrangement for biasing the third hole in the lock plate toward the latch pin when the latch pin is positioned within the third hole.

Abstract: A tension member arrangement is disclosed that can be mounted between a central portion of an agricultural implement and a wing. The wing is configured to be raised and lowered by an actuator. The tension member is mounted to support structures on the central portion of the implement and on the wing once the wing is raised, to maintain the wing in the raised position. Stress may then be relieved from the actuator without the wing descending from the raised position. The tension member may be completely removed from the implement or may remain attached and employed only when needed to maintain the wing in the raised position.

Abstract: An agricultural implement having a wing frame which can be folded up relative to another portion of the frame from a working position to a transport position, and having a hinge connection between the frame which permits the wing frame to float relative to the other frame when in the working position but which readily accommodates pivoting of the wing to the transport position. The hinge connection includes pivot pins which provide a pair of parallel pivot axis so that the floating action of the wing frame is such that the wing frame can pivot about its inner end or in effect move straight up and down relative to the other frame, and thereby provide a motion by way of which the wing readily accommodates uneven terrain. While a type of universal floating action of the wing member takes place when in the working position, a simple type locking mechanism is included in the hinge so as to prevent pivoting about the axis of one of the pins when the wing frame is raised to the transport position. Thus in being raised the pivoting only occurs about the axis of the pair of axis. The implement may be provided with a power actuated unit which acts on the locking mechanism so as to move it to its locking condition on initial actuation to in effect transform the hinge connection from one which allows the floating action to one which permits pivoting about a single action. The hinge connection includes a hinge member which has the pivot pins at opposite ends thereof, one end connecting the hinge pin to the other frame and the other end connecting the wing frame to the hinge member. The locking mechanism is a lever to which the power unit is attached and is moved from one position in which it allows pivoting about both pins to another position in which it allows pivoting about only one pin. The structure is simple and therefore inexpensive relative to known structures, most of which do not allow the same universal type movement when in the working condition as the present hinge connection. The presnt hinge connection has substantially no addition parts to accomplish the automatic switch over from the normal working condition to a raising mode.

Abstract: A hydraulically actuated, triple-hinged tool bar comprised of four independently positioned sections is disclosed. A first outer section is flexibly coupled to one end of a center section of the tool bar while to the other end thereof is flexibly coupled an intermediate section, the length of which is less than that of the first outer section. A second outer section is flexibly coupled to the outer end of the intermediate section providing a lower profile when all sections of the tool bar are in the retracted, or non-working, position. Positioning control between the center section and the first outer and intermediate sections is provided by respective hydraulically-actuated cylinders while a third hydraulic cylinder coupling the intermediate and second outer section dampens the vertical movement of the latter for increased stability in the working and non-working positions. Spacers located between the center and first outer sections and between the first and second outer sections provide for the proper positioning and stability of the various sections when retracted.

Abstract: A folding tool bar apparatus for a farm implement having a hollow main frame and winged sections pivotally attached to each end thereof. The winged sections are pivotal between a first horizontally extended position and a second folded horizontal position above the hollow main frame and disposed 180.degree. from the first position. An actuation structure is provided for moving the winged section between the first and second positions and this actuation structure includes the first set of teeth attached to each end of the hollow main frame and the second set of teeth attached to each end of the winged section for meshing with the teeth on the ends of the hollow main frame. The bracket structure is pivotally attached to the first and second set of teeth on each end of the main frame and a lever arm is attached to the bracket.
