摘要: A radiosurgery system is configured to deliver a therapeutic dose of radiation to a target structure in a patient. The target tissues are placed in a global coordinate system based on ocular imaging. The target tissues inside the global coordinate system lead to direction of an automated positioning system that is directed based on the target tissues within the coordinate system. A treatment plan is utilized in which beam energy and direction and duration of time for treatment is determined for a specific disease to be treated and/or structures to be avoided. A fiducial marker is used to identify the location of the target tissues. The device automatically turns off with excessive movement outside of alignment along an axis of the eye. Radiodynamic therapy is described in which radiosurgery is used in combination with other treatments and can be delivered concomitant with, prior to, or following other treatments.

摘要: Methods described herein include selecting a target disease having an associated therapeutic dose of radiation, determining a maximal energy in an x-ray radiation beam to be emitted from a radiotherapy system to deliver a therapeutic dose of radiation associated with the target disease to target tissue in a patient, the selected disease of the plurality of diseases requiring differing maximal energies of the x-ray radiation beam to achieve the associated therapeutic dose of radiation than the maximal energy required to achieve the associated therapeutic dose of radiation for another disease, and outputting to an output module an indication of the determined maximal energy. Methods carried out in a system that can include a processing module that receives an input including a selection of a target disease, and an output module, coupled to the processing module, that outputs, an indication of the determined maximal energy.

摘要: A method and system for performing an ocular irradiation procedure on a patient's eye is disclosed. The system includes a head support for supporting the patient's head, an eye-contact device attachable to the front portion of the patient's eye, to stabilize the position of the eye; and a position detector for determining the position of the contact device in the external coordinate system. A source of a collimated electromagnetic radiation beam in the system is controlled by a beam-positioning assembly for positioning the beam source such that the beam, when activated, is aimed along a selected path at a selected coordinate in the external coordinate system corresponding to a selected target region in the patient's eye.
