    Abstract: A wireless device can achieve higher predictability for its transmissions by inserting a placeholder frame in a transmission queue before time sensitive data has been received. In addition, a contention countdown associated with the placeholder frame can start before the time sensitive data is ready for transmission. Once the data is available, the device can insert the data into the payload of the placeholder frame, thereby reducing the wait time before the data can be transmitted wirelessly. Additionally, the device can improve reliability by transmitting data using multiple subcarrier RUs in a channel. The data blocks and the duplicative data can be transmitted in parallel using the subcarrier RUs. If a subset of the subcarrier RUs are blocked because of narrowband interference, the receiving device can nonetheless recover the data blocks and reconstruct the packet from the data transported on the RUs that did not have interference.

    Abstract: Embodiments herein describe techniques for testing optical components in a photonic chip using a testing structure disposed in a sacrificial region of a wafer. In one embodiment, the wafer is processed to form multiple photonic chips integrated into the wafer. While forming optical components in the photonic chips (e.g., modulators, detectors, waveguides, etc.), a testing structure can be formed in one or more sacrificial regions in the wafer. In one embodiment, the testing structure is arranged near an edge coupler in the photonic chip such that an optical signal can be transferred between the photonic chip and the testing structure. Moreover, the testing structure has a grating coupler disposed at or near a top surface of the wafer which permits optical signals to be transmitted into, or received from, the grating coupler when an optical probe is arranged above the grating coupler.

    Abstract: Techniques for enhancing the security of network access within an open roaming framework are provided. A first network device receives a request to authenticate connection of a user device to a network. The first network device retrieves security data associated with the network. Based on analyzing the security data associated with the network, the first network device determines that one or more security criteria are satisfied. The first network device transmits a response to the user device, where the response instructs the user device to establish a connection with the network and does not disclose the security data.

A method includes receiving a first packet from a source device that is to be delivered to a destination address through a network; determining a route to the destination address; identifying at least one network function for the first packet; encapsulating the first packet in a second packet, wherein a header of the second packet includes the route to the destination address in a destination address field and local processing metadata associated with the at least one network function in a source address field; and forwarding the second packet to a next network node of the network identified in the destination address.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides techniques for handling MAC address collision within an ESS comprising at least one wireless station and at least one access point (AP). An AP receives a first IRM address during execution of a handshake protocol between the AP and a wireless station. The AP determines that the first IRM address is allocated for use by another wireless station and then transmits a message to the wireless station. The AP receives a first wireless action frame transmitted by the wireless station after execution of the handshake protocol, where the wireless action frame includes a second IRM address selected by the wireless station. The AP establishes a wireless connection with the wireless station in a subsequent association with the wireless station using the second IRM.

    Abstract: NF Consumer authorization with model-D indirect communication between NF Consumer and NF Producer is a big challenge, as the number of SCPs in the network are typically very small compared to the number of NFs. The concepts disclosed herein optimize the NF Consumer authorization with model-D indirect communication, and allow the SCP to handle authorization for large numbers of NFs and slices per NFs without the strain on the SCP. The concepts disclosed further permit a NF Consumer to reuse an access token for different sessions, while reducing the resource requirements on the SCP.

    Abstract: Described herein are devices, systems, methods, and processes for configuring network devices in an on-premises data center from a cloud-based controller using a workflow-based approach. A user can design a network, and can create tasks related to the network configuration. A cloud-based network controller may translate a task into a workflow including one or more actions, and may cause the actions to be executed on the devices according to the workflow. The network devices may then provide feedback about any failed configurations. The network devices can also wait for further instructions from the cloud-based network controller. The network configuration tasks can include, by way of non-limiting examples, creating or deleting a virtual network, or adding or removing hosts from a virtual network. The approach may bring about consistent and error-free configurations, maintain uninterrupted connectivity with the cloud controller by the network devices, and quickly address issues with the configuration.

    Abstract: Adiabatic splitters are disclosed. In one aspect, an adiabatic splitter includes a first waveguide and a second waveguide spaced from the first waveguide by a gap. The second waveguide has a first layer and a second layer. In a first stage of the adiabatic splitter, the first and second waveguides converge toward one another and the first and second layers are in a stacked arrangement. In a second stage of the adiabatic splitter, the second layer tapers and translates so that the first and second layers are no longer in the stacked arrangement at least at an output of the adiabatic splitter.
