A method and apparatus are provided for transmitting a communication frame by a base station which comprises broadcasted information intended for a plurality of subscriber stations (AMSs), wherein that information is broadcasted by using more than one Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS). The method comprises the steps of: a) receiving bandwidth requests' indications from the plurality of AMSs; b) based on these indications, identifying more than one decoding capabilities, wherein each of the identified decoding capabilities is associated with at least one of the plurality of AMSs; c) preparing a Bandwidth Request Acknowledgement Media Access Protocol Information Element (BR-ACK MAP-IE) message in response to the bandwidth requests' indications received; and d) transmitting a communication frame which comprises at least two copies of the BR-ACK MAP-IE message, wherein the number of the copies corresponds to the number of different decoding capabilities identified, and wherein each of the copies is transmitted at an MCS that corresponds to a respective decoding capability that has been identified.

A method and devices are provided to allow reducing interferences occurring in adjacent wireless communication networks. When a subscriber device experiences interferences resulting from the operation of an adjacent wireless network, it transmits an adjustment signal which serves as a request for adjustment, to the base station operative at the adjacent wireless communication network. The adjacent base station that receives the adjustment signal retrieves adjustment information therefrom, and based on the retrieved information will determine whether it should effect a change in its transmission that would result in reducing the interferences experienced at the subscriber device sending the adjustment signal.

A method and device are provided for synchronizing data transmission of multicasting/broadcasting services (MBS) by a plurality of Base Stations. The method disclosed includes providing synchronization information to enable the plurality of Base Stations to start transmitting MBS data at a synchronized starting time point. Meanwhile, each of the Base Stations receives the MBS data to be transmitted and determines whether any of the MBS data has not been properly received. If so, the respective Base Station initiates a process to recover the missing MBS data or to obtain within a pre-determined time interval, information regarding the missing data to determine the duration of the time period that would have been required for transmitting the missing MBS. If the missing data has not been timely recovered, the respective Base Station determines a starting point and duration of a silence period based on the information obtained, and refrains from transmitting signals along a communication channel allocated for transmission of MBS data, during that silence period.

A load balancing system for a wireless network comprises: a base station parameter extraction unit able to extract base station availability parameters of currently available base stations; and a base station quality of service selector associated with said base station parameter extraction unit configured to determine from said parameters which of said available base stations is able to provide a currently required quality of service. The system requests resources from one such base station, thereby to ensure that mobile stations are distributed in a balanced manner between the available base stations. As well as quality of service, interference with other links may be taken into account, and uplinks and downlinks may be considered separately.
