Embodiments pertain to an improved electrostatographic imaging member comprising an interfacial layer further comprising an opaque semi-crystalline polyester resin that is also a hot-melt adhesive to prevent light transmission to the substrate and thus significantly reduce “plywood effect,” a print quality defect.

More specifically, the present embodiments disclose an electrophotographic photoreceptor that includes a specifically formulated undercoat layer that allows easy removal of the photoreceptor layers disposed on top of the undercoat layer. The present embodiments provide a simple yet efficient method for reclaiming recycling or remanufacturing electrophotographic photoreceptors.

Disclosed are undercoat layers comprising a metal oxide, a polymer, and a citrate of Formula (I): wherein R1 is H, alkyl, or COR′; wherein R′ is alkyl; and wherein R2, R3, and R4 are independently alkyl. The undercoat layers are useful in imaging members because they are easily separated from the substrate. This reduces the number of steps necessary to reclaim the substrate.
