摘要:
A start-fuel supply device in an internal combustion engine for a portable equipment comprising a start-fuel primer pump rotatively coupled to a starter motor of the engine, a fuel metering device for receiving a charge of fuel from a metering chamber of a carburetor during the reverse rotation of the start-fuel primer pump, and a fuel nozzle for injecting fuel from the fuel metering device to an air intake passage of the carburetor during the normal rotation of the fuel-start primer pump. A passage portion between the fuel metering device and the start-fuel primer pump is connected to a fuel reservoir through a by-pass passage provided with a check valve which allows a flow from the fuel metering device to the fuel reservoir.
摘要:
An anti-overrunning system for an internal combustion engine having a throttle valve in a carburetor in which an actuator for the throttle valve is responsive to pump pressure to move the valve to a closing position. A vibrating pump responsive to engine vibration is located to direct output control pressure to the actuator. A control valve between the pump and the actuator normally blocks pressure to the actuator but is responsive to air pressure from an engine cooling fan such that, upon overrun conditions, the fan pressure will actuate the control valve to connect the pump to the actuator to cause the throttle valve to move toward a closing position.

An apparatus for supplying a start-fuel to an internal combustion engine for a portable type machine such as a chain saw or brush cutter which has an electric battery for use in starting. An electrically driven primer pump is connected to the metering chamber of a diaphragm carburetor and can direct fuel from the chamber to an accumulator which is connected to a fuel tank through a relief valve and also to a fuel jet in the venturi entrance of the carburetor. When the primer pump is actuated by a key switch, as the engine is started, fuel in the metering chamber is moved to the accumulator and fuel is replenished from the fuel tank. Also, an electromagnetic valve opens the accumulator to the fuel jet to furnish start-fuel to the venturi.

An anti-overrunning device for an internal combustion engine utilizing a carburetor with a throttle valve and a vibrating pump for generating pressure by vibrations of the engine. An actuator is provided for the throttle valve to move it to a closing position, and a control valve is used to control flow of pressure from the vibrating pump to the actuator. A generator driven by the engine provides electromotive force to actuate the control valve.

An apparatus for supplying a start-fuel to an internal combustion engine for a portable type machine such as a chain saw or brush cutter which has an electric battery for use in starting. An electrically driven reversible pump is used to draw fuel from a diaphragm carburetor metering chamber into a fuel reservoir and also to draw fuel from a fuel tank into the metering chamber. Under cold-start conditions, the pump is reversed and fuel from the reservoir is directed to a jet at the entrance of the carburetor venturi passage to provide a rich mixture to assist in starting.

A diaphragm carburetor for small internal combustion engines of generally standard construction but improved features for facilitating hot starting due to engine heat or environmental heat which transmits to the carburetor. An automatic or manual relief passage from the diaphragm chamber relieves pressure on fuel due to heat conductors so that a rich fuel charge will not be forced into the engine but will release to atmosphere, thus permitting a normal fuel mixture to be directed to the fuel mixing passage upon a restart of the engine.

A diaphragm carburetor with a fuel metering chamber designed for easy restart when hot which includes a separate escape chamber connected to the metering chamber having a second diaphragm controlled exhaust valve. The second diaphragm is subject to positive crankcase pressure during engine operation to maintain the exhaust valve closed. When the engine is stopped, the exhaust valve is opened by a spring and fuel in the metering chamber will move into the escape chamber and out of the carburetor rather than be forced into the fuel mixing passage and venturi of the carburetor.

An anti-overrunning carburetion system which includes a carburetor with a throttle valve for opening and closing the venturi passage and a pressure responsive actuator having a pressure chamber for actuating the throttle valve to a closing position against a spring bias. A vibration responsive pneumatic pump, having also a pressure chamber, is connected to direct pressure directly to the pressure chamber of the actuator. A vibration sensor in the form of a spring backed ball is mounted to be subject to vibrations of an engine and is in communication with the pressure chamber of the pump and to atmosphere. In response to overrun conditions of the engine, the sensor will connect the pump pressure chamber to atmosphere and allow pressure to develop in the pressure chamber to be directed to the actuator, thus causing the actuator to reduce the throttle opening.

An anti-overrunning device for an internal combustion engine which includes a carburetor with a controlled throttle valve. An actuator for the throttle valve includes a spring-biased rod mounted on a diaphragm. The rod normally urges the throttle valve to a closing position. The actuator includes a pressure actuated diaphgram responsive to pressure from a vibrating pump. This pressure tends to open the throttle valve. A vibration sensor is positioned to relieve pressure on the diaphgram of the actuator and, in response to overrunning of the engine, causes the throttle valve to close in under the influence of the spring bias.

A porous absorbent material is positioned to receive the fuel leaving the open exhaust valve and to retain it until it vaporizes and dissipates through openings in the retainer atmosphere. The exhaust valve may be manually operated as an option.
