Abstract:
A scanner and a method of controlling a position of a scanning unit. The scanner includes: a flat-plate glass having a pattern display in a scanning area thereof, a carriage mounted with a scanning unit to generate an image data by reading the scanning area, an actuator to drive the carriage, a position calculating unit to determine image data that corresponds to the pattern display and to calculate properties of the image data that corresponds to the pattern display, and a control unit to distinguish the image data that corresponds to the pattern display from among the generated image data for the scanning area, to calculate a position of the scanning unit according to the image data that corresponds to the pattern display, and to control the actuator according to the calculated position. As such, the scanner makes it possible to achieve precise position control on the scanning unit by finding a present position of the scanning unit with the aid of the pattern display, and by moving the scanning unit to an appropriate position for a subsequent scanning process.

A device and method for detecting a position of a carrier in a scanner includes a scanner having a carrier on which a sensor that senses an image is installed, a motor that moves the carrier, and a motor driving unit that drives the motor, and having a device which detects the position of the carrier, having an impeller that is installed on a driving axis of the motor and rotates as the motor is driven, a driving axis sensor that outputs a detection signal according to the rotation of the impeller, and a control unit that detects the position of the carrier based on the detection signal.

An image forming apparatus includes a power supply unit to generate DC power, a plurality of function units to perform the functions of the image forming apparatus, a control unit to control the operation of a plurality of function units, a switching unit to receive DC power of the power supply unit and switch power provided to the control unit and each of a plurality of function units, and a power management unit to receive DC power of the power supply unit and to control a switching operation of the switching unit according to an operation mode of the image forming apparatus.
Abstract:
An option module using a clock frequency, an electric device, and methods therefor. The option module is connectable to a main module and provides an additional function, and includes a power supply supplying a power, a clock generator receiving the power from the power supply and generating a clock having a particular frequency, and an interface chip interfacing the power supply and the clock generator and outputting the particular clock generated in the clock generator to the main module. As the option module is implemented with the simple signal protection circuit, the option module is profitable and expandable to various option module types with varying functions.
