Abstract:
This invention describes methods and systems for tasking nodes in a distributed ad hoc network. A node is selected to participate in a data gathering or a routing task based on its potential contribution to information gain and the cost associated with performing the task such as communication bandwidth usage. This invention describes methods and systems for implementing various selection strategies at each node, using local knowledge about the network. For resource-limited sensor networks, the information-driven data gathering and routing strategies significantly improve the scalability and quality of sensing systems, while minimizing resource cost.
Abstract:
A self-learning diagnostic system provides diagnostics capabilities which may be applied to a population of networked machines or components and assemblies in a product. The self-learning diagnostic system uses both the components own historical data and the data for an entire population of networked machines of a given product in the field as the training set to adjust critical threshold parameters for detection and diagnosis. The system includes a nominal diagnostic threshold setting module which sets initial thresholds and an adjustment module, which adjusts thresholds continuously based on machine performance data. A service records evaluation module checks service records periodically for correlations and an adjustment module adjust service strategies based on correlation data.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for collecting and using data is disclosed. There is at least one sensor that placed within a workspace for sensing vibrations associated with at least one machine operating in the workspace. In addition, there is at least one tag associated with a particular job. The tag indicates the contemporaneous status of tasks relating to the job. At least one processor is in communication with each of the at least one acoustic sensors and at least one tag. This processor receives data relating to acoustic and task status from the at least one acoustic sensor and at least one tag. The acoustic sensor senses vibration and/or sound. Workflow analysis and fault diagnosis and prediction are then based on data collected.
