摘要： Fluid is drained from a bleb using a device including a tubular member having opposed open ends to enable the fluid to flow from end to end through the tubular member. Inward from one end is a stop element enabling the one end to be inserted in one direction through a wall of the bleb but preventing the inserted end from being pulled in the opposite direction through the bleb wall. The opposed remote end of the tubular member is inserted into the retrobulbar space to enable fluid exiting the tubular member at this remote end to drain into the tissue. Along an exterior of the tubular member is an anchoring element enabling the device to be sutured in position. An ophthalmic product has a bleb drainage feature.

摘要： A device used to measure intraocular pressure within a patient's eye includes a probe typically having an end to which is attached a resilient member with a hollow interior that decreases in volume as the member is pressed against the eye. The greater the intraocular pressure within an eye, the more the volume decreases. A liquid moves in response to this change and this movement is detected to signal if the intraocular pressure is at a safe level.

摘要： A portable systems release fluid pressure with a cavity within a patient. These systems include a drainage catheter, a pressure-responsive one-way valve, and a fluid reservoir all adapted to be mounted in proximity to the cavity being drained. One system in particular is used in relieving intracranial pressure. This intracranial pressure relief system may include a headband to which are mounted the one-way valve and reservoir. The drainage catheter may have mounted thereon a cranium seal formed of a soft material that contacts the inner wall of a cranium bore hole. The cranium seal may have threads to facilitate advancement into the bore hole.

摘要： An implantable medical assembly includes a cover having a porous chamber. Enclosed within the chamber is a medical device through which aqueous body fluid flows from an outlet of the device into the chamber. The chamber is formed at least in part from a porous material that promotes vascularization and inhibits fibrotic encapsulation upon implantation and that allows aqueous body fluid in the chamber to flow through the porous material into body tissue in which the assembly is implanted. The chamber has a pair of walls that are spaced apart at a first portion of the chamber at or near the outlet and converge at a second portion of the chamber downstream of the outlet.
