Abstract: A backlight module and a display device are provided by the embodiments of the present application. The backlight module includes a light guide plate and a switchable diffusion sheet. The switchable diffusion sheet further includes a first conductive layer and a second conductive layer disposed opposite to each other. A polymer liquid crystal layer is disposed between the first conductive layer and the second conductive layer. In the backlight module of the embodiment of the present application, a thick glass in the prior art is replaced with the first conductive layer and the second conductive layer which are lighter and thinner than the thick glass, which can greatly reduce an overall thickness of the backlight module.

The liquid crystal layer comprises a plurality of liquid crystal molecules, and the plurality of liquid crystal molecules have the same fixed orientation angle, and an orthogonal projection of long axes of the liquid crystal molecules on the first substrate is perpendicular to an absorption axis of the first polarizer. As such, the brightness of the display screen will not be affected when looking up from the front, and the privacy-image protection effect for decreasing the brightness of the display screen when looking up from the side is achieved.

Abstract: A display device provided includes a display panel, a first backlight module, a second backlight module, a light sensor, and a viewing angle adjusting component. The first backlight module includes an optical element, and the viewing angle adjusting component is disposed corresponding to a display sensing area. When the optical element is in a fog state, the viewing angle adjusting component reduces an exit angle of backlight. When the optical element is in a transparent state, external light enters the light sensor through the viewing angle adjusting component and the first backlight module, which improves uniformity of backlight viewing angle.
