Abstract: A method for operating a working device and a working device. A working device, in particular for industrial applications, and a method for operating a working device, in which the operational safety and operational reliability are increased, are realized by carrying out at least the following method steps:



detecting a safety-relevant operating situation using at least one sensor system of the working device,
initiating a braking process, the braking process including using at least one drive motor of the working device to reduce speed when a critical operating situation has been detected,
processing of at least one driving parameter determined after initiating the braking process,
selecting between a continuation of the braking process or the initiation of an emergency braking process depending at least on the processed driving parameter.
