An embodiment of Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) concept with vanes coupled to central shaft thorough supports that are connected in such a way that vanes can be moved closer or further away from the central shaft of the wind turbine. The rotational speed of the wind turbine can be regulated by adjusting the distance of the vanes. Additionally, the turbine can be put into storm protection mode by bringing the vanes right next to the central shaft where the profile of the wind turbine is reduced to minimum.
Abstract:
This invention is about a method and apparatus for fabricating large scale stationery parabolic solar collector. The method involves use of a robot like apparatus for determining locations and height of support piles to be staked to the ground such that the tips of the piles define contour and shape of a parabolic collector. The reflective panels installed on the support piles form a parabolic shaped mirror which reflects the sun's rays to a well defined focal point. The method of construction is scalable and can be used for fabricating small size parabolic collectors as well as large scale ones. The construction apparatus and method of operation are also used for periodic cleaning of solar collector in a practical and fast manner.

This invention comprises a totally implantable Eustachian tube activation device which is intended for patients suffering from Eustachian Tube Dysfunction ailment. The device electrically stimulates the muscles activating the Eustachian tube to perform the opening maneuver of the Eustachian tube valve to aerate the middle ear cavity. The unit is hermetically sealed in a suitable biocompatible container and implanted in a suitable location in close proximity to Eustachian tube. The frequency of the stimulation of the implant may be fixed or can be altered depending on the condition of the patient.

A fatigue sensor for monitoring the health state of structural members is disclosed. The sensor has multiple parallel beams, each sensitive to different levels of fatigue, that are designed to fail prematurely but progressively as the sensor goes through the same fatigue cycles as the structural member it is attached to. Whenever fatigue levels on a particular beam of the sensor exceed the engineered number of fatigue cycles, that particular beam fails and sensor electronics can detect that failure and transmit this information wirelessly when interrogated by an external interrogator. Having multiple beams that fail after different numbers of fatigue cycles enables the health state of the structural member to be monitored, in that unlike normal fracture sensor that sense failure of the structural members after the actual fracture event, the present invention is capable of sensing imminent failure of the structural member before the actual failure occurs.

This invention is about an apparatus and method for positive identification of patients suffering from Eustachian Tube Dysfunction ailment. Eustachian Tube dysfunction is a common ailment which almost 1% of world population suffers. Recent clinical study indicated that some of the Eustachian Tube Dysfunction cases are due to lack of synchronization and synergy of the two muscles responsible for opening Eustachian Tube. The invention teaches a device and method for assessment of Eustachian Tube Dysfunction and identifies patients where dysfunction problem originate from lack of muscle synchronization.

The invention uses plurality of forward-looking preview cameras each looking at different nadir angle viewpoint to get cloud information from approaching target areas. The invention uses fuzzy logic system and other decision mechanisms to decide which target images should be acquired in which particular sequence and when the target image acquisition should start. The invention intends to give autonomous decision capability to agile earth observation satellites to make decision on their own to get the highest yield of quality images of target areas.
