Abstract:
Provided are a non-reciprocal unit used for a polarization dependent type optical isolator and a polarization dependent type optical isolator that are simple in structure, can prevent damages due to light and heat and can obtain a high extinction ratio. In a polarization dependent type optical isolator, an input side lens (first lens) (5), a first birefringence unit (7), a Faraday rotator (9), a second birefringence unit (11) and an output side lens (second lens) (15) are arranged from the input side to the output side. The polarization dependent type optical isolator (1) is connected with optical fibers (3, 17) on the input and output sides, respectively, wherein a wedge angle (θ1) of the first birefringence unit (7) is different from a wedge angle (θ2) of the second birefringence unit (11).
Abstract:
Provided is a bicycle trainer that provides a riding sensation such as that when actually riding a bicycle outdoors. The bicycle trainer is for training by using a detachably installed bicycle (21) and is provided with the following: a main body (3) placed on the floor; a support shaft (5) in which one end is movably inserted into the main body and the other end is fixed to a fork end support means (7) that supports a fork end part (23) of the bicycle; and an elastic part disposed so as to surround at least a part of the support shaft from the center in the longitudinal center thereof to the other end. The support shaft elastically deforms due to the force imparted from the fork end part and therefore the bicycle can move forward and backward and incline to the left and right.
Abstract:
An imaging apparatus includes: an imaging unit; a focal range control unit configured to cause the imaging unit to capture a first image and a second image which have mutually different focal ranges, changing a focal position of the imaging unit; a reference image generation unit configured to generate, using the first image and the second image, a reference image to be used as a blur standard; and a distance measurement unit configured to measure a distance to the subject based on a difference in blur degrees between the reference image and each of the first image and the second image. The focal ranges of the first image and the second image are independent of each other, and an out-of-focus space is provided between the focal ranges.
Abstract:
A distance measurement apparatus includes: an imaging device which captures an image; a diffractive optical device which diffracts a subject image; an optical system which forms, on the imaging device, the image from the subject image diffracted by the diffractive optical device; and a distance measurement unit which measures a distance to a subject using the image captured by the imaging device. The distance measurement unit measures the distance to the subject based on an interval between diffraction figures of the subject image which are created by the diffractive optical device. The interval is on the image captured by the imaging device.
Abstract:
An optical alignment method which develops a pretilt angle by batch plane exposure without tilting a substrate. This optical alignment method provides liquid crystal aligning capability to the surface of a polymer film by exposing the surface of the polymer film through a slit exposure mask while the surface of the polymer film and the slit exposure mask are moved relative to each other substantially at a fixed rate. Alternatively, liquid crystal aligning capability is provided to the surface of the polymer film by exposing the surface of the polymer film through an optical exposure pattern while the optical exposure pattern having a plurality of lines with a certain width at certain intervals is formed on the surface of the polymer film continuously.
Abstract:
A point card system according to the present invention includes a customer ID recording area 20, a service point recording area 24, an information recording area 22, and a browse flag recording area 23. The customer ID recording area 20 records unrewritable customer identification information. The service point recording area 24 records the number of service points. The information recording area 22 records provider information supplied from a provider without physical contacts. The browse flag recording area 23 records a history of provider information browsing. A provider 1 issues a wireless point card 3 to a customer 2. The provider 1 is provided with a wireless transceiver 8 and a card reader/writer 5. The system supplies provider information to the customer by radio and detects browse history information for providing an additional profit returning service.
Abstract:
A liquid crystal aligning agent composed of a polymer containing a moiety having two aromatic nuclei and an ethylene carbonyl group therebetween. The liquid crystal aligning agent is converted to a liquid crystal alignment film by irradiation a thin film of the agent with a linearly polarized ray.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a novel polyol obtained by using a specified polyhydric alcohol, polyoxyalkylene polyol, aliphatic amine and/or alkamlamine as a raw material and adding an organic polycarboxylic acid or its anhydride and an alkylene oxide; a polyurethane resin prepared from said novel polyol and an organic polyisocyanate; a rigid polyurethane foam prepared by using a hydrochlorofluorocarbon or hydrofluorocarbon foaming agent which has very low public hazards; and a composite utilizing thereof. The production of rigid polyurethane foam by using the polyol of the invention can be carried out in good operation efficiency and low public hazards. Additionally, properties of the foam thus obtained is equivalent to those of rigid polyurethane foams obtained by using conventional chlorofluorocarbons. Consequently, the rigid polyurethane foam of the invention is very useful for insulation materials and structural insulation materials.
