Abstract: A method for displaying graphical indications associated with a joint includes: receiving image data associated with a joint of a subject; generating a three-dimensional model of at least a portion of the joint of the subject using the image data; identifying at least one region of the joint that deviates from a baseline anatomy by comparing at least a portion of the three-dimensional model to a baseline model; generating at least one measurement of a characteristic of the joint at one or more predefined locations using the three-dimensional model and a coordinate system; displaying a spectrum bar graph that comprises at least one representation of the at least one measurement of the characteristic of the joint; determining a pathology associated with the joint based on the at least one measurement of the characteristic of the joint; and displaying at least one graphical indication indicating the pathology associated with the joint.

Abstract: A method for creating space in a joint formed at the convergence of two bones, the method comprising: applying force to a body part so as to separate the two bones from one another by a distance which is greater than the distance that they are normally separated from one another when the joint is in a healthy state, whereby to distract the joint and create an intrajoint space; inserting an assembly of three balloons into the intrajoint space while the assembly of three balloons is in a contracted condition; expanding the assembly of three balloons within the intrajoint space; and reducing the force applied to the body part so that the joint is supported on the assembly of three balloons, with the two bones remaining separated from one another by a distance which is greater than the distance that they are normally separated from one another when the joint is in a healthy state.

Abstract: A method for hip distraction includes positioning a patient on a slide-resisting pad placed on a surgical table; tilting the surgical table so that the patient is in a first degree of inclination; applying a distraction force to a leg of the patient while the patient is in the first degree of inclination so that a hip joint of the patient is distracted, wherein the distraction force is opposed by a combination of a slide-resisting friction force provided by the slide-resisting pad and a gravitational force attributable to the first degree of inclination; reducing the tilt of the surgical table in accordance with a reduction of the distraction force over time so that the patient is in a second degree of inclination; and performing at least a portion of a surgical procedure on the distracted hip joint while the patient is in the second degree of inclination.

Abstract: Apparatus for distracting the hip joint of a patient, said apparatus comprising:a perineal post for engagement with a leg of the patient, said perineal post comprising a first portion and a second portion, wherein said first portion is configured for mounting to a table, and further wherein said second portion is movable relative to said first portion so as to change the geometry of the perineal post relative to a patient supported on the table.

Abstract: A method for visualizing at least one region of a joint that deviates from a baseline anatomy includes receiving image data associated with a joint of a subject, generating a three-dimensional model of at least a portion of the joint using the image data, identifying at least one region of the joint that deviates from the baseline anatomy by comparing the three-dimensional model to a baseline model, generating a measurement of a characteristic of the joint at one or more predefined locations using the three-dimensional model and a coordinate system, and generating a three-dimensional rendering of the model that includes a visual indication of the at least one region of the three-dimensional model that deviates from the baseline so that the region is visually indicated according to degree of deviation, and a representation of the measurement of the characteristic of the joint that is positioned according to the predefined locations.
