摘要: An electronic tag (10) receives a data message (18) that has a wake-up section (20) followed by a session section (22). The interrogation signal which carries the data message encodes the wake-up section (20) differently from the session section (22). A power manager (28) decodes the wake-up section (20) using a very low power decoder (34) that remains energized during a standby state. When the power manager (28) detects a predetermined identification code (26), it controls a switching circuit (32) to energize a controller (30). The controller (30) may then decode, process, and respond to information conveyed during the session section (22). If the power manager (28) does not detect the identification code (26), the controller (30) remains de-energized. The power manager (28) also includes a synchronizer (38) which determines when a preamble (24) is detected, and an ID decoder (40) that determines when the wake-up section (20) conveys the predetermined identification code (26).

摘要: A method and apparatus for controlling an agricultural harvester having a cut crop receiving header coupled to a hydraulic cylinder. The header applies a force against the ground that is adjusted by applying pressure to the cylinder. Proportional raise and lower valves control the pressure in the cylinder. A pressure signal representing cylinder pressure is received. The difference between the measured pressure and the setpoint is used to compute input signals, which are transmitted to the valves. Cylinder pressure is maintained substantially at a setpoint, the setpoint being adjustable in response to varying terrain. The setpoint is set to a first value in falling terrain and a second value in rising terrain. At the top of a hill, the setpoint is reduced below the first value until ground contact is regained, and the pressure is recharged above the second value. Alternatively, header height may be measured and the valves controlled to maintain header position substantially constant relative to the ground or the harvester frame. Header lateral tilt is controlled while controlling either cylinder pressure or header height. A resume function returns the header from a raised position to a cutting position at the beginning of a new row.

摘要: A method for welding two pieces includes juxtaposing the pieces and monitoring the temperature of the region to be welded. Energy is applied at a time rate sufficient to raise the temperature of the region to be welded at a rate exceeding a predetermined value. Once a predetermined temperature is reached, that temperature is held for a predetermined time. The rate of rise of temperature is 70% of the final or predetermined temperature in 20% of the predetermined time. After the weld is made, the rate of fall of the temperature exceeds a predetermined value. Quenching may be used to achieve the desired rate of fall.
