Abstract:
Provided is a card insertion unit for a card reader which, without weakening a magnetic field generated by a magnetic field generating device in order to prevent reading of magnetic data by a magnetic head for skimming, is capable of reducing the effect of the magnetic field upon the reading of the magnetic data by way of the magnetic head for data reading. This card insertion unit (4) is provided with a notch (4c) formed at a point at which a magnetic stripe (2a) passes at insertion time of the card (2), a projecting portion (4b) which projects toward the upstream side of the insertion direction of the card (2), and a magnetic field generating device (14) disposed in the interior of the projecting portion (4b). The magnetic field generating device (14) is provided with a core (15) and a coil (16), and is disposed so that magnetic lines of force representing the magnetic field generated by the magnetic field generating device (14) pass through the position passed through by the magnetic stripe (2a) at insertion time of the card (2), and the direction in which the magnetic lines of force leave the end surfaces of the core (15) and the direction in which the magnetic lines of force enter the end surfaces of the core (15) are tilted with respect to the insertion direction of the card (2).
Abstract:
To provide a card processing device that can accurately determine whether or not a normal card is inserted at a card insertion slot. A card processing device is equipped with a width-detecting mechanism that detects the width of a card inserted at a card insertion slot and outputs a width detection signal, a thickness-detecting mechanism that detects the thickness of the card inserted at the card insertion slot and outputs a thickness detection signal, an AND circuit to which the width-detecting mechanism and the thickness-detecting mechanism are connected and which outputs a card detection signal when the width detection signal and the thickness detection signal are input, and a computation circuit that outputs control signals to implement predetermined controls based on the card detection signal input from the AND circuit.
Abstract:
A card reader which reads or writes data from or to a card inserted through a card insertion port into a card reader body via a card transport path is described the card reader comprises a shutter provided near the card insertion port to open or close the card transport path. A first detector is provided for detecting the card inserted therein near a first end of the card insertion port. A sensor is provided for detecting a change in the first detector. A locking member of the card reader is capable of switching positions of the shutter between an open-position and a close-and-lock position. A controller is provided for controlling switching positions of the locking member between the open position and the close-and-lock position of the shutter. A second detector is provided at a second end of the card insertion port, which is capable of switching states of the locking member between a stationary mode and a movable mode such that when the card is inserted into A card insertion port, the second detector sets the locking member in the movable mode and the controller starts up based on the sensor output to move the locking member to the open position of the shutter to allow the shutter to be opened or closed.

Abstract:
A card processing device has a card insertion section into which a card is inserted, a card receiving section in which the card is received with a rear end section of the inserted card exposed from the card insertion section, a reader that reads information recorded in the card received in the card receiving section, a holding member that holds a front end section of the card and, in response to a card-pulling operation by an operator, releases the front end section of the card, and a detector that detects that the card is at a position held by the holding member.

Abstract:
A card-shaped medium processing device may include an insertion port to which a card-shaped medium is inserted, a medium feeder capable of abutting with a card-shaped medium inserted from the insertion port to carry the card-shaped medium, and a motor for driving the medium feeder. A taking-in maximum value which is the maximum value of an output of the motor at the time of a taking-in operation of a card-shaped medium inserted from the insertion port is set to be smaller than an ejecting maximum value which is the maximum value of an output of the motor at the time of an ejecting operation of the card-shaped medium toward the insertion port. A control method for a card-shaped medium processing device may include the same relationship, i.e., the taking-in maximum value is set to be smaller than the ejecting maximum value.
