摘要： A railroad car positioning apparatus for positioning a railroad car along a railroad track includes a battery-powered and radio-controlled carriage assembly and first and second dog members mounted on the carriage assembly. The apparatus includes a main control unit for controlling the carriage assembly. The carriage assembly is controlled via radio communication between the carriage assembly and the main control unit. The dog members are generally extendable to an axle height of the railroad car to be acquired for contacting one of the axles of the railroad car. The apparatus further includes a plurality of hydraulic cylinders for moving the carriage assembly in a forward or reverse direction on a guide way disposed between the railroad tracks on which the railroad cars travel. The batteries on the carriage assembly may be remotely recharged using a contactless power transfer device, which includes a battery recharging device situated on the guide way.

摘要： A lump breaker apparatus for a rotary car dumper includes a porous barrier means in the form of a grizzly element, having sized openings therein and positioned in the flow path of the discharged bulk material prior to its entry into the hopper pit. Motorized impact means, preferably rotatable drum means, having a plurality of outwardly protruding striking elements, is mounted on the frame of the rotary dumper, extending between the end plates thereof and moveable with the frame. The impact means is selectively activated to engage and breakup lumps of oversized bulk material retained on the grizzly during a dumping cycle.

摘要： A weighing system for a rotary rail car dumper. The rotary rail car dumper includes a frame assembly that receives a rail car including contents to be weighed. A series of trunnions are positioned to rotatably support the frame assembly and allow the frame assembly to be rotated to dump the contents of the rail car. A weight gauge is positioned on each of the trunnions. The weight gauge generates a signal based upon the force applied to the respective trunnion by the weight of the frame assembly and rail car. In one embodiment, the weight gauges are a series of strain gauges that generate an electrical signal based upon the force applied to the strain gauge. A control unit receives the electrical signals from the strain gauges and determines the weight of the rail car before and after the contents of the rail car have been dumped.
