Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for are provided for a wireless power receiver. The method includes receiving power from a wireless power transmitter; converting the power in an alternating current (AC) form into a direct current (DC) form and providing the converted power to a battery of the electronic device; measuring a temperature of a point in the wireless power receiver during reception of the wireless power; maintaining an amount of the converted power at a first level if the temperature is lower than a preset temperature; decreasing the amount of the converted power to a second level which is lower than the first level if the amount of the converted power is at the first level and the temperature is higher than or equal to the preset temperature; increasing the amount of the converted power to the first level if the amount of the converted power is at the second level and the temperature is lower than the preset temperature; and transmitting, to the wireless power transmitter, a signal including status information of the wireless power receiver device and control information to control the wireless power transmitter.

Abstract:
A method of controlling a wireless power receiver. The method includes receiving, by a power receiver, power from a wireless power transmitter; receiving, from the wireless power transmitter, a time set value that is set for checking cross connection; in response to receiving the time set value, generating a power variation in the wireless power receiver by converting a load status from a first load status to a second load status; and maintaining the second load status for a time corresponding to the received time set value.
Abstract:
A wireless charging method includes receiving information on a required amount of power from a second wireless power receiver while supplying power to one or more first wireless power receivers; calculating required power for all wireless power receivers including the one or more first wireless power receivers and the second wireless power receiver; and when a maximum amount of providable power is not larger than the required amount of power for all wireless power receivers, transmitting insufficient power amount information to each of the wireless power receivers.

Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for protecting a wireless power receiver from excessive temperature caused by charging are provided. The apparatus includes a power receiver configured to receive wireless power in an alternate current (AC) form from a wireless power transmitter; a temperature measurement unit configured to measure a temperature of a point in the wireless power receiver during reception of the wireless power; and a controller configured to decrease a charging power corresponding to the wireless power, if a temperature measured by the temperature measurement unit exceeds a preset temperature, and to provide the charging power to a battery, if the temperature measured by the temperature measurement unit is lower than the preset temperature.
Abstract:
A wireless power transmission controlling apparatus and method are provided. The apparatus includes a communication unit; and a controller configured to compute an amount of transmission power to be transmitted, based on information received from a wireless power receiving apparatus; output a wireless power transmission control signal corresponding to the computed amount of transmission power; filter the wireless power transmission control signal and pass a harmonic wave corresponding to a predetermined communication frequency band; and control the communication unit to transmit the wireless power transmission control signal based on the harmonic wave.
Abstract:
A method for generating a load variation for detecting a wireless power receiving unit in wireless charging is provided. The method includes maintaining a switch connected to a dummy load in an ON state by the wireless power receiving unit, receiving wireless power from a wireless power transmitting unit, and, upon receiving the wireless power, switching the switch connected to the dummy load to an OFF state.
Abstract:
A wireless power transmitter, which detects a load change in a wireless power transmission, includes a power supply unit, a power converter which converts the driving power supplied from the power supply unit into Alternating Current, a power transmitter which wirelessly transmits the converted driving power to the wireless power transmitter, a temperature measurement unit which measures a temperature of the wireless power transmitter; and a controller which detects a current and load value of the driving power output from the power supply unit, compensates for the load value based on the measured temperature value, and determines a load change of the power transmitter based on the compensated load value.
