An image forming apparatus for authenticating a near field communication (NFC) device, which receives information about an application being executed on an NFC device when the NFC device is tagged, determines an authentication method based on the received information, receives and authenticates a log in information corresponding to the determined authentication method from the NFC device, and allows the use of the image forming apparatus based on a result of authentication.

Provided is a cloud printing method using near field communication (NFC), the method comprising: selecting content for printing in a mobile terminal; requesting a print by the mobile terminal being NFC tagged to an image forming apparatus; transmitting the selected content to the cloud server via the mobile terminal; parallel rendering the content in the mobile terminal and the cloud server; generating print data by merging sets of content respectively rendered in the mobile terminal and the cloud server; and printing the print data in the image forming apparatus.

Provided is a cloud printing method using a image forming apparatus, the method including: selecting content for printing in a mobile terminal; connecting a location storage server and receiving location information of image forming apparatuses via the mobile terminal; displaying locations of the image forming apparatuses on a screen of the mobile terminal, based on the received location information; transmitting the content to a cloud server via the mobile terminal; near field communication (NFC) tagging the mobile terminal to one of the image forming apparatuses; and receiving the content from the cloud server and printing the content, via the one of the image forming apparatuses to which the NFC tagging is performed.
Abstract:
A near field communication (NFC) operating mode of an image forming apparatus may be set by determining a type of a job to be performed in the image forming apparatus via NFC tagging of a mobile device, determining a first NFC operating mode corresponding to the determined type of the job from among a plurality of NFC operating modes supported by an NFC module, setting the determined first NFC operating mode as an operating state of the NFC module, and performing the job by tagging the mobile device via NFC by using the set first NFC operating mode.
