Abstract: Provided in various embodiments is a method for operating an electronic device. The method may comprise the operations of: recognizing, through a communication circuit of the electronic device, that an external device connected to a connector of the electronic device is a power supply device having the function of changing a voltage value and a current value; selecting, on the basis of the recognition, a direct charging circuit from among the direct charging circuit and a switching charging circuit of the electronic device as a charging circuit through which a power signal, received from the power supply device through the power source terminal, is to pass; and confirming the voltage of the battery on the basis of the occurrence of a designated event while the direct charging circuit is selected, and requesting, through the communication circuit, the power supply device to output a power signal having a voltage value that is N times the battery voltage. Other various embodiments are possible.

Abstract: A power control method and an electronic device for performing the method are disclosed. A power control method according to various embodiments may comprise: receiving an input for turning off the power of an electronic device; identifying the voltage of a battery based on the input being received; determining, based on a set margin voltage and the voltage of the battery based on the input being received, a reference voltage for entering a ship mode preventing and/or reducing discharge of the battery caused by leakage current; turning off the power of the electronic device; monitoring the voltage of the battery after turning off the power of the electronic device; and setting the electronic device to the ship mode based on the monitored voltage of the battery and the reference voltage.

The processor may be configured to: upon identification of a power-off request for the electronic device, set the power-on time and power off the electronic device, based on the electronic device being powered on upon identification of the power-on time, compare a power-off period of the electronic device with a threshold period, and based on the power-off period of the electronic device being longer than a threshold period, decouple the battery from the main board by opening the switch.
