Abstract: A backlight unit includes a light source part configured to emit a light and a reflective sheet disposed under the light source part. The light source part includes a first light source block including a plurality of light sources with first distances therebetween and a second light source block including a plurality of light sources with second distances therebetween. The first distances increase or decrease as the light sources of the first light source block are closer to an end portion of the first light source block than to a center portion of the first light source block, and the second distances increase as the light sources of the second light source block axe closer to an end portion of the second light source block than to a center portion of the second light source block.

Abstract: A manufacturing method of a display apparatus includes providing a backlight unit under a display panel to provide a light to the display panel. The providing of the backlight unit includes disposing a light source on a substrate to emit the light, disposing a mask above the light source, which includes a first opening and a second opening greater than the first opening disposed under the first opening, and providing a transparent resin including a wavelength converting material on the light source through the first and second openings to form a wavelength converting member. A width in a cross section of the wavelength converting member along a direction substantially vertical to the substrate becomes smaller as a distance from the substrate becomes greater.

Abstract: A display device includes a display panel which displays an image, a backlight unit which supplies the display panel with light, an upper cover, and a lower cover. The upper and lower covers accommodate the display panel and the backlight unit. The backlight unit includes light guide plates spaced apart from each other, a light source part, an optical member and an optical diffusion member overlapping a space between the light guide plates. The optical diffusion member includes a diffusing part and a supporting part. The diffusing part faces the optical member, overlaps the space between the light guide plates, and diffuses light emitted from the light source part toward the optical member through the space between the light guide plates. The supporting part protrudes from a surface of the diffusing part which is opposite to the optical member, and is in a space between the light sources.

The display device comprises a display panel, an optical layer on the display panel, and a backlight unit that is below the display panel and provides the display panel with light. The optical layer includes a plurality of optical fiber segments, and an air layer between the optical fiber segments. The light generated from the backlight unit is provided to the optical fiber segments through the display panel, and the light is diffused by the optical fiber segments and an air layer dispersed among the optical fiber segments.

Abstract: An optical film includes a first pattern layer including a base part and a plurality of protruding parts disposed on the base part, and having a first refractive index, and a second pattern layer disposed on the first pattern layer and having a second refractive index greater than the first refractive index. Each of the protruding parts includes a bottom surface adjacent to the base part, an upper surface opposite to the bottom surface and parallel to the bottom surface, and a side surface disposed between the bottom surface and the upper surface.
