    Abstract: An LCD device and a method of driving the LCD device that reduce scattering afterimages, the LCD device including: a liquid crystal display panel including a gate line, a data line intersecting the gate line and a pixel connected to the gate line and the data line; a timing controller receiving a data signal including a plurality of frames and outputting a data signal; a power supply generating a gamma reference voltage corresponding to the data signal; and a data driver receiving the data signal, receiving the gamma reference voltage corresponding to the data signal from the power supply and applying a data voltage to the data line. The timing controller includes: an analyzer comparing the data signal with an afterimage reference pattern; a determinator determining an afterimage vulnerable data signal of the data signal; and a control signal output circuit outputting a gamma reference voltage control signal increasing and decreasing a gamma reference voltage by a variable data voltage on a frame-by-frame basis in accordance with the afterimage vulnerable data signal. The power supply includes a gamma reference voltage adjuster receiving the gamma reference voltage control signal to adjust the gamma reference voltage.

    Abstract: A display device includes a data driver which outputs a data voltage of a positive polarity or a negative polarity to a data line based on the polarity control signal by a horizontal period, and a number of a positive horizontal period, in which the data voltage of the positive polarity is outputted to the data line, in a frame period is different from a number of a negative horizontal period, in which the data voltage of the negative polarity is outputted to the data line, in the frame period when the frame image data satisfy a condition of an afterimage pattern.
