Abstract: A display device is disclosed that includes a base layer, a display element layer, a circuit element layer, a light control layer, and a quantum dot layer. The base layer includes first, second, and third light emitting regions and a non-light emitting region. The display element layer is disposed above the base layer and includes first, second, and third light emitting elements providing source light to the first, second, and third light emitting regions, respectively, toward the base layer. The circuit element layer is disposed between the base layer and the display element layer and includes first, second, and third pixel circuits connected to the first, second, and third light emitting elements, respectively, and overlapping the non-light emitting region. The light control layer is disposed between the display element layer and the circuit element layer and includes a color filter layer that includes first, second, and third color filters. The quantum dot layer is disposed on the color filter layer and includes quantum dots, and overlaps the first light emitting region and the first, second, and third pixel circuits.

Abstract: A method for forming a display device includes forming a liquid crystal layer between a first substrate and a second substrate spaced apart from the first substrate, in which the liquid crystal layer includes a liquid crystal composition including a reactive mesogen, applying an electric field to the liquid crystal layer, firstly curing the liquid crystal layer at a temperature from about −20° C. to about 60° C., and secondly curing the liquid crystal layer without applying the electric field. The liquid crystal composition includes the reactive mesogen in an amount exceeding 0 percent by weight and equal to or smaller than about 30 percent by weight relative to a total weight of the liquid crystal composition.
