Abstract: A display substrate includes a first display substrate comprising a display area having an array of switching elements and a peripheral area surrounding the display area, a second display substrate facing the first display substrate, a color filter disposed on the display area of the first display substrate, a first backflow-blocking pattern including a material substantially the same as the color filter and disposed on the peripheral area and an insulation layer covering the color filter and the first backflow-blocking pattern, the insulation layer having a hole exposing, for outgas testing purposes, a corresponding portion of the first backflow-blocking pattern.

Abstract: A display panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate which faces the first substrate and includes a light blocking pattern including a light blocking portion disposed in a display area and a peripheral area surrounding the display area, and a light transmitting portion which is disposed in the peripheral area and includes the same material as that of the light blocking portion, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, where a thickness of the light transmitting portion taken along a vertical direction in a cross section is less than a thickness of the light blocking portion taken along the vertical direction in the cross section.
