A method for charging an external device and a display using the method are provided. The method includes, determining whether the external device is chargeable and connected to the display through a connector when the displaying apparatus is in a standby mode; and if it is determined that the external device is chargeable and connected, charging the external device through the connector in the standby mode. The display includes a power supply that supplies standby power or main power; a checker which determines, in a standby mode, whether an external device is connected and chargeable; and a controller. The controller controls the power supply to output standby power while the checker determines whether the external device is connected and is a chargeable device, and if the external device is connected and chargeable, controls the power supply to output main power to charge the external device.

A display apparatus and a method for adjusting a 3D effect of the display apparatus are disclosed. The display apparatus includes: a display unit; a receiver which receives a three-dimensional (3D) video signal including a left-eye video signal and a right-eye video signal; a disparity information calculator which calculates disparity information; a depth information calculator which calculates first depth information of the 3D video signal and photographing information of a 3D image photographing device; a 3D image converter which generates a first depth map and displays the first depth map; and a user interface (UI) generator which generates and displays a menu button for adjusting the first depth information, the 3D image converter generating a second depth map in response to a user's selection input through the menu button, and displaying the second depth. With the intention of a 3D image producer to adjust the 3D effect.

A display apparatus is provided, which may includes an image receiver which receives an image, an image processor which separates the received image into a left-eye image and a right-eye image and process the left-eye and right-eye images, an image output unit including a display panel which displays the left-eye and right-eye images alternately, a storage which stores a response speed of the display panel, and a controller which calculates a pixel value difference between the left-eye and right-eye images based on a unit of pixels that constitute the left-eye and right-eye images, detects a crosstalk generating area of the left-eye and right-eye images using the calculated pixel value difference and the response speed of the display panel stored in the storage, and controls so that the detected crosstalk generating area is indicated distinguishably from other areas of the left-eye and right-eye images.

The apparatus includes plurality of receivers which receive a plurality of content; a signal processor which generates image frames by processing each of the content; an output which displays a plurality of content views by combining the image frames of each content; a synchronization signal generator which generates a synchronization signal to synchronize the plurality of the content views and a plurality of glasses apparatus; an interface which transmits the synchronization signal to the plurality of the glasses apparatus; a storage which stores glass characteristic information; and a controller which controls the signal processor to process the plurality of the content according to the glass characteristic information. The display apparatus includes an image processor processing a three-dimensional (3D) image including a left-eye image and a right-eye image; a display unit alternately displaying the left-eye image and the right-eye image of the 3D image processed by the image processor; and a controller determining representative values of images in reference regions of the left-eye image and the right-eye image, the reference regions referring to corresponding positions of the left-eye and right-eye images, and displaying the determined representative values of the reference regions on at least one of the left-eye image and the right-eye image.
