    摘要: The presence of a child restraint seat on a vehicle seat is detected by a child restraint seat anchor that is movable from a first position to a second position when a strap from the child restraint seat is coupled to the anchor. In accordance with the preferred embodiment, the movable anchor is slidably mounted in a housing and slides against the bias of at least one spring when the child restraint seat is coupled thereto. A micro switch is activated upon the moveable anchor sliding from the first position to the second position to cause an air bag controller to either deactivate or slow deployment of an air bag when the child seat is present.

    摘要: The presence of a child restraint seat on a vehicle seat is detected by movement of a pair of anchors from a first position to a second position when the child restraint seat is coupled with straps to the anchors. The anchors are pivotally or deflectively mounted on a cross bar which extends between side frame members within the back of the vehicle seat. Upon a sensor detecting the presence of the child restraint seat, an associated air bag is disabled so that the air bag will not be deployed against a child sitting in the child restraint seat if the car is in an accident. Upon removing the child restraint seat, the anchors return to the first position in which the sensor again enables the air bag for deployment because, in the absence of a child restraint seat, an occupant of the seat is more likely to be an adult than a child.

    摘要: A method is presented of optimizing an airbag suppression threshold for an airbag suppression system in a vehicle. The method includes defining a first value as the airbag suppression threshold such that deployment of an airbag is suppressed above the first value. Next, one or more factors indicative of a presence of a child restraint seat in the vehicle seat are determined. The airbag suppression threshold is set to a predefined second value when each of the factors are met. The factors include determining whether a locking feature in a set belt webbing retractor is in a first state configured to prevent withdrawal of the seat belt webbing. Other factors may include determining whether a speed of the vehicle is within a predetermined speed range and whether a load applied to the vehicle seat is within a predetermined seatload range.

    摘要: A control system for implementing a vehicle-integrated child presence and reminder system includes a computer processor. The control system is integral with a vehicle. Logic is executable by the control system and is configured to monitor an occupancy sensor activated in a vehicle. The occupancy sensor, when activated, is indicative of a presence of a child in a car seat disposed in the vehicle. The logic is also configured to collect data from at least one vehicle sensor and, using the data collected from the vehicle sensor along with results of the monitoring of the occupancy sensor, the logic determines if a triggering event has occurred. In response to determining the triggering event has occurred, the logic is configured to generate an alert and transmit the alert to an alert component.
