Abstract:
An RF phase and/or amplitude control device (40) has a digitally controlled attenuator (41) at it input to adjust the overall output level of the output. The device includes an in-phase power divider (43) for splitting up the input signals over two paths (I and Q). The power divided signals in the two paths are further power divided and shifted in relative phase at 180.degree. hybrids (49 and 50). The power divided and phases shifted signals in each path I and Q are selectively switched using switches (51 and 53). The selected and switched output is quadrative combined at a 90.degree. hybrid (55). This provides a single inexpensive device which can provide digitally controlled output signals which are either phase controlled or amplitude controlled or both.
Abstract:
A temporal nuller for removing or minimizing narrow band interference/jamming power from a global positioning system (GPS) receiver's input includes a first signal path having a first input and a first output, at least one time delay device and an adjustable phase shift device located within the first signal path, and a second signal path having a second input and a second output. The first signal input is connected to the second signal input, and the first signal output is connected to the second signal output. Further, the at least one time delay device is operative to introduce a time delay between a signal at an output of the at least one time delay device relative to a signal at an input of the at least one time delay device.
Abstract:
An antijam module (10) for GPS utilizing the vertical and horizontal polarizations of signal output by each antenna element in an array of antenna elements. This effectively doubles the number of channels from the conventional number of channels (N) to 2N. Each of these channels is uniquely weighted in accordance with conventional teachings such that the system operates with a capability to null 2N−1 jammers. Another aspect of the invention is the provision of a system and method for moving the reference channel from one channel to another in respect to the detection of received power levels. In specific implementations, the applied weights are dithered in a predetermined direction and a predetermined amount to ascertain when and whether to pass the reference channel designation.

Abstract:
An industrial process and system are described for forming finished parts from powder metal. Known steps of compacting the metal powder into a preliminary part having an intermediate shape, followed by heating and forming the preliminary powder into a finished part having a final shape and density are integrated into a single automated process and system by steps and equipment which provide for a rearranging of a continuous flow of preliminary parts into separate batches at a sintering station so that the separate batches of the preliminary parts can be uniformly heated to a selected sintering temperature level. After sintering, the separate batches are removed from the sintering station and rearranged back into a flow of parts which can be conveyed to a final forming station. This arrangement provides for advantages in starting up and stopping the system in a typical industrial application.
