    摘要: A diversity antenna for receiving radio frequency (RF) signals includes a horizontally-polarized antenna element coupled to a vertically-polarized antenna element in a fixed orthogonal relationship. The vertically-polarized antenna element is a blade antenna which includes a vertically-oriented printed circuit board (PCB) on which is disposed a pair of conductive strips. The horizontally-polarized antenna element includes two loop antennas which are arranged and conductively coupled in parallel. Each loop antenna includes a horizontally-oriented, disc-shaped PCB on which is disposed a pair of conductive loops. To facilitate the orthogonal coupling between the pair of antenna elements, each disc-shaped PCB includes a central slot dimensioned to receive the vertically-oriented PCB. In operation, the independent signal feeds produced by the first and second antenna elements can be processed to reduce any cross-polarization effects present in either signal feed, thereby providing the diversity antenna with full, omnidirectional signal coverage.

    摘要: A diversity antenna for transmitting and/or receiving radio frequency (RF) signals includes a planar dielectric substrate on which is disposed a single conductive patch and a pair of conductive feeds, each conductive feed extending into the patch using an inset feed microstrip configuration. The pair of conductive feeds is arranged on the substrate in an orthogonal relationship and interact with the common patch to form two independent antenna elements which are non-interfering and orthogonally polarized. Preferably, the diversity antenna is housed within a low-profile protective casing to yield a patch-type antenna structure with orthogonal signal coverage. In operation, the independent signal feeds produced by the pair of antenna elements are delivered by corresponding feedlines to a diversity receiver for signal processing. Accordingly, the diversity receiver is able to minimize any cross-polarization effects present in either signal feed, thereby providing the diversity antenna with full, omnidirectional signal coverage.

    摘要: A radio frequency (RF) antenna assembly is mounted on a shielded panel to facilitate the transmission of RF signals therethrough. The RF antenna assembly includes an RF antenna formed from wire which is bent to define first and second antenna elements. The RF antenna is inserted through the panel with the first and second antenna elements disposed on opposite sides thereof. A dome-shaped cap constructed of a compressible elastomeric material is mounted over the first antenna element and lies flush against the outer surface of the panel. A disc-shaped dielectric base receives the distal end of the second antenna element and lies flush against the inner surface of the panel. The RF antenna exerts a spring-like force that resiliently draws the cap and base together. In use, each antenna element transmits RF signals within a designated frequency range to wireless electronic devices located on the same side of the panel.
