Abstract: A configurable radio frequency system. The system includes: a plurality of radio frequency cells connected in a cascade. Each of the radio frequency cells includes an input switch connected to an input of the radio frequency system, an output switch connected to an output of the radio frequency system, and a plurality of elements, each of the elements being connected between the input switch and the output switch. The input switch and the output switch are configured, depending on their respective settings, to cause a radio frequency signal path from an input of the cell to an output of the cell to include one of the elements. The plurality of elements in each cell includes a band pass filter, an attenuator, a through path, an amplifier, and a mixer.

Abstract: A signal generator. A voltage controlled oscillator generates a signal that is fed to a comb generator, e.g., a nonlinear transmission line. A tone, from among a comb of tones at the output of the comb generator, is selected by a bandpass filter, its frequency is divided, e.g., by a direct digital synthesizer, and the result is compared, e.g., by a phase and frequency detector that receives a reference signal at its other input. The output of the phase and frequency detector is fed back, e.g., through a lowpass filter, to the voltage controlled oscillator.

Abstract: A signal source with a wireless frequency reference. A signal loop includes an amplifier and a coupler. The magnitude of the loop gain in the signal loop is substantially equal to 1 at a steady-state amplitude of a signal at a fundamental frequency. A reference oscillator is coupled to the loop through the coupler, via a wireless link, and provides phase stabilization. The loop may include a nonlinear transmission line, to generate a comb output spectrum.
