Abstract: A wireless communication device is described. The wireless communication device includes a processor. The wireless communication device also includes memory in electronic communication with the processor. The wireless communication device further includes instructions stored in the memory. The instructions are executable to determine, for a first measurement gap, whether a measured gain state matches an appointed gain state. The instructions are also executable to determine, for the first measurement gap, whether a new cell is detected. The instructions are further executable to determine whether to skip a subsequent measurement gap based on whether the measured gain state matches the appointed gain state and whether a new cell is detected.
