Abstract:
Aspects of the disclosure are directed to a method, apparatus, and computer software for wireless communication. In various examples, a method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE) includes measuring channel quality over a measurement period associated with a voice call corresponding to a first subscription supported by the user equipment, determining whether the channel quality is sufficient to enable an adaptive multi-rate (AMR) decoder to ignore one or more bursts of a plurality of bursts carrying a block of data received at the user equipment, and causing the adaptive multi-rate decoder to decode the block of data without the one or more bursts when the channel quality is determined to be sufficient to enable the adaptive multi-rate decoder to ignore the one or more bursts. The channel quality may be measured by measuring a bit error rate for a transmission on a slow associated control channel (SACCH).
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods enable rejection of adjacent channel interference (ACI) in a way that mitigates reductions in performance, such as increased bit error rates, which might otherwise occur with conventional filtering algorithms used to combat ACI. For example, a filter or a filter stage may be shifted in frequency by an amount that corresponds to a measured power of the ACI. In some examples, the amount to shift the filter may correspond to a carrier to interference (C/I) ratio, which itself is based in part on the ACI. In some examples, the amount to shift the filter may further depend on the noise power in the wireless channel, since a lesser shift of the filter frequency may be beneficial in noisy environments.
Abstract:
The present patent application improves DARP by allowing multiple users on one time slot (MUROS). It comprises means and instructions for sharing signals on a single channel, comprising setting up a new connection, allocating a new time slot if there is an unused time slot on a channel frequency, selecting an used time slot for the new connection to share with an existing connection if there is not an unused time slot on the channel frequency, and selecting a different training sequence code for the new connection if the used time slot on the channel frequency has been selected for the new connection to share with an existing connection.

Abstract:
Fast Associated Control Channel (FACCH) information is combined if a first block of FACCH information and a repeated block of FACCH information each fail a respective integrity check. An algorithm for realizing repeated FACCH diversity combining gains for different codec and discontinuous transmission (DTX) configurations is applicable to Full Rate codecs, Half Rate codecs, and discontinuous transmission scenarios. A pair of buffers may be used in a ping-pong fashion to store decoding soft or hard decisions for failed FACCH blocks.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention include devices, systems and methods for optimized camping on a cell. One method can include beginning a power scan of a range of radio-frequency channel numbers as part of an acquisition. Power can be measured for a first set of radio-frequency channel numbers at a time using adjacent channel interference detection. An average power can be computed for each radio-frequency channel number once the range has been scanned a predetermined number of times. Other aspects, embodiments and features are also claimed and described.
