Abstract: To reduce power consumption, a user equipment (UE) may trigger a microsleep in a subframe when a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) does not include a downlink grant. However, because the microsleep depends on the PDCCH not including a downlink grant, the UE cannot trigger the microsleep until after the PDCCH is decoded. Accordingly, in some aspects, a UE may enable an aggressive extra microsleep in which a microsleep duration may be increased by reducing a PDCCH decode time. For example, a UE may use a stale channel estimate and noise estimate from a previous subframe to perform PDCCH demapping when conditions related to a PDCCH block error rate are satisfied. In this way, removing channel estimation and noise estimation from a PDCCH demapping path may reduce the PDCCH decode time, whereby the UE may trigger a microsleep sooner to increase a sleep ratio and thereby increase power savings.

Abstract: Aspects present herein relate to methods and devices for wireless communication including an apparatus, e.g., a UE. The apparatus may measure a frequency error from a first pair of pilot symbols and a second pair of pilot symbols received via a channel associated with communication between the UE and a base station, the measured frequency error from the first pair of pilot symbols and the second pair of pilot symbols corresponding to a first frequency error measurement and a second frequency error measurement. The apparatus may detect a first frequency wraparound in the first frequency error measurement and a second frequency wraparound in the second frequency error measurement. The apparatus may adjust the first frequency error measurement based on the first frequency wraparound or the second frequency error measurement based on the second frequency wraparound if the first frequency wraparound or the second frequency wraparound is the non-zero value.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive one or more downlink grants while operating in accordance with a first receive state during a threshold number of transmission time intervals (TTIs). The UE may determine a weighting factor for each TTI within the threshold number of TTIs, where the determined weighting factors are based on a spectral efficiency (SPEF) of channel communications between the UE and a base station. The UE may sum a subset of the weighting factors to determine a transition determination value, and may transition from the first receive state to a second receive state based on evaluation of the transition determination value.
