Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify radio access technology (RAT) state information associated with the UE, the RAT state information including an indication of whether the UE is operating in a steady state or is operating in a transition state. The UE may adapt a codec rate associated with an application of the UE based at least in part on whether the UE is operating in the steady state or is operating in the transition state.
