    Abstract: A wireless communication system utilizes a synchronization signal block (SSB) structure to enable beam switching at higher sub carrier spacing (SCS) or uplink transmissions within an SSB. The SSB structure has a first SCS for an SSB transmission and a second SCS for a data transmission. The SSB structure is based on the first SCS and the second SCS, with the SSB structure including at least one gap between SSB symbols or between SSBs. The wireless communication system transmits or receives an SSB based on the SSB structure. A base station may transmit a downlink signal during the gap, for example, where the second SCS is much greater than the first SCS. A user equipment may transmit an uplink signal such as an acknowledgment during the at least one gap. The user equipment or the base station may perform analog beam switching during the at least one gap between SSBs.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to communication systems, and more particularly, to a control resource set (coreset) for transmitting physical downlink control channels using a single-carrier waveform in communications systems operating according to new radio (NR) technologies. In an exemplary method, a base station may determine a first control resource set (coreset) of time and frequency resources within a control region of system bandwidth, to transmit a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) to a user equipment (UE) and transmit the PDCCH to the UE as a single-carrier waveform via the first coreset of time and frequency resources.

    Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may determine a coreset of time and frequency resources within a control region of a coreset bandwidth. In one aspect, the coreset bandwidth may be based on a minimum bandwidth configuration associated with one or more UEs in a set of UEs. The apparatus may also transmit a PDCCH as a single-carrier waveform via the coreset of time and frequency resources. In one aspect, the PDCCH may be transmitted to each UE in the set of UEs using the coreset bandwidth.

    Abstract: When a base station is capable of using multiple different types of waveforms for a downlink communication to a UE, the UE may waste processing resources attempting to receive and/or process the downlink communication. For example, the UE may cycle through various possible types of waveforms in an attempt to process the downlink communication. Techniques described herein use waveform signaling for downlink communications to notify the UE of a type of waveform being used for a downlink communication, thereby conserving UE resources (e.g., processing resources, memory resources, RF resources, and/or the like) that would otherwise be wasted attempting to process the downlink communication using multiple types of waveforms.
