Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for adaptive antenna switching for measurements, for example, in high gain automotive devices. According to certain aspects, a method is provided herein for wireless communications. The method generally includes selecting, based on one or more conditions, a first measurement configuration that uses at least an external antenna mounted on a surface of a vehicle for one or more measurements or a second measurement configuration that uses at least an internal antenna associated with the vehicle for the one or more measurements; performing the one or more measurements using the selected measurement configuration; and sending a report based on the one or more measurements. The techniques for measurement configuration selection may allow the device to achieve the benefits of both the high gain external antenna and the lower gain internal antenna(s) depending on the current conditions.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may include at least one processor configured to initiate a voice call using a first network, determine that a condition exists, and switch the voice call from the first network to a second network after the determination that the condition exists. The first network may be a packet-switched network, the second network may a circuit-switched network, and the condition may be that the packet-switched network has poor coverage quality. Alternatively, the first network may be a circuit-switched network, the second network may a packet-switched network, and the condition may be that the packet-switched network has improved coverage quality. Optionally, a user may be prompted to perform the switch and the user may provide an input to perform the switch. The switch may performed using SRVCC or RRC signaling.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the claimed invention generally relate to a network dynamically configuring one or more cells based on signal quality measurements received from all antennas of a receiver-limited UE. The receiver-limited UE may have a number of receivers that is less than or equal to a number of antennas of the UE. Further, the UE may be capable of operating in a CA mode. Dynamically configuring the one or more cells based, at least in part, on the received signal quality measurements may allow the UE to operate on M×N MIMO on the Pcell or Scell.
