    Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices enable management of notifications across mobile devices and the separation of the notification (e.g., an alarm) from the communication (e.g., an email or SMS message that was the subject of the alarm). By separately managing the manner of notification provided to the user from its associated communication (e.g., managing a vibration or ring announcing a text message separate from the text message itself), the various embodiments enable users to better manage their communications under a variety of circumstances. In the various embodiments, notifications may be managed based on various criteria, such as a communication sender's identity, user device settings, user activities, user device state, user calendar information, time, location, user history data, and/or communication type.
